This lady bug cake is made with an oval cake pan (crescent shape is cut out of one end to allow for the "head"), and a small round pan for the head. The "Baby Bugs" are made in the Wilton egg shaped muffin tin. Colored candy melts are used for spots and thin slices of licorice strips are used for antenae. Frosting is bc.

Lady Bugs in the Grass

Okay. This is definitely my fav cake yet - it was sooo FUN to do! I had a blast making the ladybugs - who would have thought bugs were so much fun?

It's hard to see in the picture, but each ladybug had tracks from where she had been on the cake, looping around the flowers and through the grass.

Thanks for looking!

I just love this old gal! Base is 11X15 with an oval cut from a 9X13, both chocolate. Iced in buttercream while the gal is made of fondant, glasses are florist wire. Requested for a very spry lovely lady who is turning 80.

I made these for a co-worker of mine in another state. She helped me out of a jam and has had the patience of Job with me! I just wanted to thank her for her help and friendship. I'm going on a business trip and will meet her finally. Sugar cookies covered with marshmallow fondant and royal icing.

This was fun - I was so inspired by others on this site - kimistry, trisha1972 and charman all led me in the right direction. Thank you all! The cakes are strawberry with whipped raspberry filling. The smash cake worked just as it should have - the photos will be adorable.

The cake was a vanilla flavored one that is great for decorating because it is quite solid. The frosting was a vanilla buttercream. For my daughter's second birthday.

My very first request for a "Rump Cake"! I haven't worked with fondant icing very much. This was for a friend who let me try fondant icing again in exchange for a reduction in price! I'm so glad I tried it again!!!!

Two layer 8" round cake, iced in buttercream; sides lightly airbrushed. Divide the sides into 4-6 sections by piping a border down. Hearts are cut-outs of fondant.
All piping done with tip 18. Great for Valentines' day; birthday; anniversary or other events.

With the fabulous example of DiscoLady's cake, I did my attempt at a similiar cake. Chocolate Fudge and Butter Pecan layers with Saskatoon Mousse Filling and Buttercream Icing. Royal flowers. Was reasonably happy with it, lace could have been better but was first attempt at it. Sorry for dark picture was taken in Bar. Lots of fun doing this one !!!

Here is my daugnter's bday cake. I is cakelifted from CC. It is a 2 layer 9' Strawberry cake with Choc fudge filling covered with MMF and decorated with creamcheese frosting and royal icing ladybugs that I bought from a local cake store. This was the first time I have made and used MMF, it molded wonderfully and easily to the cake. I am pleased with the turn out of this cake. I had been planning it for several months now. On to next week's birthday cake!

This is a 2 layer 10" cake with the Betty Crocker Dome cake on top. I used a small number zero cake pan for the face and poured melted chocolate over it to get it a smooth finish. The eyes, mouth and spots are all made out of chocolate. I also did cupcakes to match. I had a great time making this one.

This shoe was made using modeling paste. It was part of Cheryls 60th birthday cake so I gave it the brand CherylM. I took a photo of the shoe Cheryl was going to wear to her party and made a replica.

INSTRUCTIONS ARE HERE! sandra-socake.blogspot.com I added them to my blog due to the number of requests I was getting for the instructions!

Have fun!!

I did these for a baby shower with a Lady Bug theme. This was my second attempt. The first time, I didn't let the red completely dry before putting the black dots on and the black bled into the red...ugh!

This customer wanted an elegant cake. She had never ordered a cake from me before and I think was very nervous, just by the look on her face when she opened the cake box was all I needed! I thought she was going to cry she was so happy.

I saw a similar cake on some web site years back and decided to copy it for my best friend's birthday. This was the very first cake I ever decorated. I used fondant for the ladies. It was a lot of fun.

This is a 9x13" sheet cake. I usually make the full torso when doing cakes like these, but tamed this one down a bit. It is covered with MMF. I airbrushed the cleavage, and torso, to add more definition. But, I'm not sure if I like the airbrushing or not (so honest opinions welcomed, and appreciated!)
