Made this for my grandaughters 4th birthday. Planned on doing a cat on a bed but since I had cake scraps leftover I added three kittens. She just loved it and saved one of the kittens for later. We can now add basket weave to our repetoir. My daughter-in-law has got her buttercream down pat now.

I took this idea from Debbie Brown's 50 Easy Party Cakes. I now wish I had taken the time to make the yarn out of mmf but the effect is still there:) This is a surprise cake for my friend. Her husband and herself come home from their honeymoon tomorrow and I know she's been missing her kitty while she's gone! She loves cats!!

Made 3 kittens for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Was a fun one to make. My first attempt at basketweave and it wasn't as hard or time consuming as I thought it might be.

This cake was made for my cousin's birthday. She saw a picture of this cake on another website, so this is not an original design. White chocolate hazelnut cake, with white chocolate ganache. Covered in fondant, with a hand moulded Kitty made out of gumpaste. Gumpaste plaque, stamped lettering, dusted with chalk and sparkle dust.

A welcome cake I did for an adoption party. The little girl is 4 years old and loves cats. I used two 8" rounds for the cat (cut up). Fun and easy for us beginner types.

This cake was for a friend's retirement party. She has a lot of cats and she really liked this cake. She saved all the cats off the top and took them home to her daughter. This was a white almond sour cream cake, raspberry filling with white and chocolate buttercream icing and royal icing daisies and drop flowers.

This is another cake I made last weekend. It was for a 6yo girl who loves cats. Realized too late that I forgot to add the whiskers, but she loved it anyway. This was one layer chocolate, one layer yellow and the kittens were strawberry with buttercream filling and icing. It's a 12 inch cake and used the mini balls to make the kittens.

My Navy friend stationed in Afghanistan requested a "cat in a sailor suit" cake for his girlfriend (who lives near me). I used my HUGGABLE TEDDY BEAR pan and did a little re-decorating to accommodate his request.

This is a cake made for my local knitting group, the Knitt-witts :) We meet every other Monday, and somebody always makes snacks, this week I volunteered. Our main knitting guru is Susan 'B' hence the little bumble bee. Chocolate cake with custard filling. I still need a lot of work on my writing.

This was my first ever attempt at basket weave icing, and I thought the end result was quite nice.I made the "blanket" from fondant, and pricked a design into it with a toothpick to give it a quilted effect.I think its quite cute.

White cake with buttercream icing. I used the doll pan and the ball pan for the initial shape then carved the features....legs, body area and facial features (I should've used a pound cake...entire face fell off...I decorated it with a flat face...lol...it worked)

I made this puppy kitten cake for my daughter's birthday, since she really wanted a puppy kitten party. It's a double layer 9x13 with 3" rounds for the heads. Both have sugar cookie ears. She loved it!

My take on the kitten in a basket. Chocolate cake with Chocolate BC, Royal icing flowers, and cake tops crumbled for the dirt. My mom is the "cat woman" so I gave this one to her as it often resembles something that happens at her house.

My daughter wanted a birthday cake that looked like our two new kittens. I couldn't find a good model for a 3 d cake, and my baking supplies are very basic. I came up with these, which where made with bowls for the bodies, cup cakes for the head, and chocolate chip cookies for the ears. Crude perhaps, but she loved them.

Chocolate sponge cake with buttercream icing. Used a colouring in page to cut out. Outlined using the pin-prick method. The wool/yarn could have been done better though.

Just a practice cake. From Debbie Browns 50 easy party cakes.
Yarn took a long time, but went faster after I remembered I had bought a playdough fun factory. First time ever covering a cake with fondant, and first 3-D cake like this. I used 2 small pyrex bowls to bake leftover batter from a birthday cake. I had to round it out, but it worked very well.
My daughter came and took it to share with her Goddaughters.

I made this cake for my mom's birthday. Her 2 cats have a knack for getting into things, including cookie favors I was making for my sister's wedding! I thought a cake showing their mischief would be perfect! The cakes are covered in fondant and the cats are made of gumpaste.

I did this cake for my 2 year old daughter's birthday. Based (obviously) on a Debbie Brown design. Chocolate chip cake with BC & MMF yarn/cat. I had more fun making this cake than any other one I've done so far.

This was supposed to be 20 servings but it ended up pretty huge! Probably feeds over 40. Yikes! I got carried away I guess. I had to make a stand for it to support the head so once I did that I had to go with it. I also wish the bottom of the dress looked neater...but overall I think the customer should be pleased enough tomorrow.

Based on Debbie Brown's cake in Easy Party Cakes. I have GOT to find a better way to do those strings. Anyway...bottom is strawberry cake iced in buttercream, made to look like a ragwool rug. Yarn is chocolate from sports ball pan, covered in fondant. Kitten is candy clay. Now I have to transport the thing.....

This is a shameless copy of a very cute cake made by CakeL8T. Thanks so much for the darling idea. I had been searching for a shaped Hello Kitty cake and hers was so cute. I changed the colors to match the mother's request. Strawberry cake with Cream Cheese frosting.

This is my first "bigger" cake. Prior to this, I only had done 9 inch cakes. The bottom is 12 inch and the top is 9 inch. PLUS, it's my first real tiered cake (compete with wooden dowel supports). It took me way longer than I expected but I think it turned out nice. Bottom layer is chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream and the top is white cake with buttercream icing.

I did this cake for a very picky client she was very hesitant about giving me her and her boyfriends initals and the colours of their cat - apparently she felt they had nothing to do with decorating a cake. The cake is chocolate with strawberries/ whip cream filling.

Birthday cake for my Step-son's sister. I love Hello Kitty so this was fun to make. White cake with all shortening icing covered with Fondant. The fondant was airbrushed. I was too lazy to add color to it.

Ball cake covered in BC and fondant. It took a long time to roll each individual yarn thread, but still fun. The kittens and dog are made to look like my sister's pets -- it was for her birthday.
