Hands down my favorite cake. Got the idea on this site (thanks!). The penguins, fish and igloo tiles are fondant. Trees are sugar cones. Water is piping gel with blue food coloring. The igloo is the Wilton barbie doll cake pan (the dress). The cake was very time consuming but did not take much skill at all.

I made this cake for my dad real quick in one night, so it's a little sloppy. However, it was a lot of fun. The front 2 penquins are sliding. The 2 on the right-hand side in front of the igloo are a father and daugher (to represent us) and then there are 5 penquins on the left sige of the igloo that are playing king of the hill. Oh and the penguin in the back right hand corner was made by my husband.

this cake was made with the bake and fill pan from Betty Crocker. Creamcheese/white chocolate frosting with marzipan penguins, all made by myself. At the back there's a christmas tree and gifts (all marzipan). It was made for my "meeting" that I have every tuesdays afternoon in an all-mothers group. Each year, the week before x-mas we have a potluck lunch, and they always ask me to bring a cake.

The igloo is coverd with buttercream and the penguins and the fish are made of sourdough (experiment). The penguins were cracked when I took them out of the oven. I should have covered the board with more icing to give a snow look.

This cake was for my son's second birthday party tonight. It was my first time molding with fondant (MMF) and the first cake I used fondant on outside of my Wilton class. It took me a LONG time to mold with it. I either need a lot more practice or maybe it's not for me. The whale took a couple of HOURS. But I loved how easily it draped on the cake and how impacting it was as "snow". The cake is a vanilla caramel cake with chocolate caramel ganache filling and caramel flavored buttercream.

I did this cake a few weeks after I finished wilton classes. Buttercream frosting for all of it and used shimmer dust to make the igloo sparkle. Cake was chocolate with peppermint filling. At the time I made the igloo w/ just a mound of frosting but I think using the mini ball or sports ball pan would make it easier.

This was soooo fun to make, there were so many great ideas on CC that I incorporated in this, thanks to everyone for the great ideas. I had no clue what I was going to make until the day before my daughter's party and threw this one together. It's hard to see but the penguins are stacked on top of one another and are trying to string the Christmas tree with lights. :) The others are sliding down the iceberg and having snowball fights. The penguins are MMF, the iceberg is cake covered with MMF.

Here's the dairy-free chocolate cake I made for my daughter's Brownie Troop. One of the girls is allergic to milk and milk products so the whole thing had to be dairy-free and I spoke with her mom to make sure I was using the correct recipes/products. In the middle of decorating this morning I received word on a death in the family so I didn't do all the finishing touches I normally would have.

This is my first cake since my surgery (Bilateral Carpal Tunnel Release) I just did it yesterday for my children's classroom. They all loved it however, I am really disappointed. The BC was not coming out smooth, you can see it looks so sloppy. I wanted to add more penguins and decorations, at least a border but, my hands hurt a lot so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself but I had envisioned it so much nicer. Thanks for looking.

My niece loves penguins so I had to think of something. The igloo is the Wilton soccer ball pan with a mini loaf that I cut to fit. The penguins I used an egg shape cookie cutter to cut the cake out after I baked it and then just iced them...and the "ice" they are sitting on is white chocolate so they are easy to pick up and put on a plate.

Made this for my husband's office. The igloo was made from the ball shaped pan. I just used half of the ball and covered it in fondant. The penguins are fondant as well. All else is BC and marshmallows. Piping gel for the water.

This is my entry for the AZ Cake Show for 2007. It's 6", 10" and 14" rounds covered in buttercream. Royal icing snowflakes, icicles, bc bead borders all painted with pearl dust. Fondant polar bear on skiis & ski hill, igloo, penguins, snowman, skiis & poles, husky dogs, dog sled with hat, mittens and scarf. Blue swirl thing on the side of the top tier is suppose to represent the Northern Lights. Show theme is " On The Move" so I hoped this cake represents some things that move in winter.

Stacked rectanguler layers of white cake, covered in blue buttercream (white on top). Fondant handles and frosted rice krispie treat lid. Used real beer cans emptied by poking a whole in the bottom so they looked unopened. Rock candy to look like ice.

I wanted to try making the chocolate candy clay that everyone was talking about and so here it is. I made the chocolate candy clay using white candy melts - surprising it turned out okay. So this is a trial and error cake. I was pretty pleased but need more work with my MMF figures. Thanks for looking.

This was my first home decorated cake ever. I did it for my son's second birthday I saw the idea in a magazine. the cake is a pound cake baked in a mixing bowl, torted, and filled with lemon curd. Frosted with fluffy white frosting and then marshmallows, snack cakes, and a bit of coconut to finish it off. The penguins are chocolate ganache purchased from one of my favorite chocolatiers.
