Sorry for the poor exposure! We only had our phone camera ... no flash. Anyway it is passion fruit/orange chiffon cake with buttercream. There are some "floor" details that don't show up in the picture. The silhouette and name in lights is gumpaste. The stage curtain is fondant.

Disney has a movie that is apparently pretty popular with the kids these days called High School Musical. The 10 year old this was for was really into it. Personally, this is one of my favorites.

I made this cake for my best friend Valerie's 30th Birthday. It is german choc cake with choc buttercream icing. The shoes are actually little girls dress up shoes. They had a Snow White bow on them originally and I took it off and added the flowers for a "grown up" look

I owe meeah a super big thank you for this one. The birthday saw that cake that meeah did and wanted it just like that cake (well except she wanted to make sure it didn't have to say "Happy Birthday Callie" ;) , I hope I did it justice. Here is the link to the original cake http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_267383.html
It was all buttercream with color flow for the musical notes. The picture was printed and laminated.

This cake was quite a challenge, because the girls wanted pictures of the lead male character, (Troy?), and 'Sharpay' on it. I finally went with this design. I don't have an edible image printer (YET), so I printed the pics in a strip with the movie logo alternating on photo paper and lined the back of the paper with wax paper. Everything else is buttercream, and I topped it off with some curly ribbon, a trick I learned from tracey on this site.

Thanks everyone for ideas for this cake. I had the worst time coming up with something to do. I'm not crazy about it, but the 7 year old girl was. I thinkas long as it has high school musical somewhere on it they just go wild.

This cake survived a 5 hour, 90 degree, high humidity trip to Indiana. Of course there was a little damage control after I got there. (I had my first aid kit along!) This cake was chocolate for the bottom layer and vanilla with vanilla pudding for the top covered in Vanilla crusting bc. This was a cute cake and everyone loved it! Thanks to mypastrychef for the inspiration and info!!

My second paying customer! This cake is for a young man who is allergic to milk, eggs and peanuts. It's a 12" round and an 8" square DH Deluxe Moist classic yellow cake with Ener-G egg substitute. The icing has Fleischmann's Unsalted margarine in place of butter. The mortarboard is made of gumpaste, the decorations are MMF as well as the book coverings. It scored high on looks with the client, waiting for feedback on taste. Serves 60 and I charged her $160 since I wasn't sure how well it would end up.

This theme was a very fun challenge. The young girl wanted a 3-tiered High School Musical cake but wanted the words to say "Happy Birthday Princess Abigail". The cake is iced in buttercream. The curtain is also bc. The rest (stars, music notes, font, and tiara) are all royal icing painted with Luster Dust. I piped dots over the wording with a #3 tip to resemble the light bulbs.

This was for the graduation party for my twin sisters who are going to PLU this fall (Go Lutes!). I got my inspiration for this cake from cakeconfections on this website. Grad cap was made with a mold and candy melts. Tried using the frozen buttercream technique, but didn't work well with all the fine detail. Next time I'll try filling in the spaces with the base color of the cake to make a solid piece.
