This is just a simple yellow cake torted with buttercream. The lady that requested this just told me they were having a luau themed anniversary party, and that they were know as the Two Bears, and would like that incorporated into it. I sprayed the waves with the food coloring spray, chocolate seashells, brown sugar sand, and Kandy Klay flowers. The palm tree is a breadstick dipped in chocolate with Kandy Klay leaves. I hope she likes it!

I made this cake for my niece's 5 th birthday. It's chocolate and white layers. I used gumpaste and fondant for the flowers and leaves and the hula girl is fondant on top of a skirt from a small wondermold pan cake. The tree is a pretzel rod wrapped in fondant with gumpaste leaves attached with melted chocolate.

This cake was made with all buttercream. It took a little while to "paint" the flowers, but I was pretty happywith the results.

I made this for an 11 year old. I wanted the sides to look like a hawaiian shirt. She wanted 2 palm trees, a hammock and a girl in it that looked like her. Even though there isn't much detail to the "girl", she looks amazingly like the real girl.

Individual cakes for cafe opening in their colors. Made as part of gift basket goodies. Each shirt has a different design and pattern. Flowers made to look kind of like tropical ones.

10, 8 & 6" round cakes for the waterfall made out of piping gel. The flowers are silk and the parrots are cardboard. Satellite cakes are a half flower and 2 dolls made with the wonder mold and some $1 store dolls. The sand is brown sugar and the shells are real. The flip flops are candles. The girls names were on the hula skirts and "Feliz Cumpleaños was written on the sand. The mother loved this cake. Things I would change: make water lighter and end with the sand and smaller flowers for the girls.

I did this cake for a girl I work with. They celebrated 3 birthdays and had a luau with a pig in the ground and all! It was for her husband, her MIL and a friend. 11x15 2 layer all buttercream with a 2 layer 6 in round for the beach with blue cake sparkles on the blue icing. Inspired by Wilton's cake and a cake that I saw on here by gilpnh. This was my first paid cake after my Course 3 class in August.

My first commisioned cake. Customers friend is moving to Hawaii before having her baby boy so that is the reasoning behind the theme and color scheme of the cake. All deco is fondant with the exception of the surf board which is white chocolate painted with luster dust and gel color.

Here's a birthday cake I did for my friend's mom's 50th birthday. Happy Birthday is spelled out in Hawaiian. Thought it added an "authentic" touch. :)

I made this cake for a surprise luau party for my husband's 30th birthday. i wanted the cake to follow the hawaiian theme, and decided to try out making hibiscus flowers with royal icing, and stamens of gum paste. I didn't quite have enought time or icing to finish out the cake with a nice border, but it did come out well and my husband was very pleased and surprised.

This was done for a co-workers daughters birthday and her friend. The huts are yellow cupcakes piped with the grass tip. The roof of the huts are cocktail umbrellas piped with the grass tip. The ocean is piping gel colored in blue. The Palm Trees are pretzel rods, with royal icing leaves and royal icing coconuts and the edging is 4 Leis held on by the same color buttercream icing.

I made this cake for a little girl who was turning 8 and had a Hawaiian Slumber Party Birthday and she wanted a Bratz cake. All the decorations are made with fondant and painted with thinned icing color. The doll was a bit big and hides the palm tree which was a pretzel rod covered in chocolate with fondant leaves. The 'water' gel actually was only around the top of the bottom layer, but ended up 'sliding down' in transit. I also used graham cracker crumbs for the sand. The girls loved it.

This is a cake that I did for my daughter's 6th birthday. The theme was a Hawaiian Luau. I had 3 others Hula Dancers on the side, but I did not get a great picture of them.

I made this cake during course 2. The roses are green because it was intended for St. Patrick's Day. The bottom border is my first attempt at doing the Hawaiian Lei Border from the old Wilton books. I don't have a multi coupler, so I went around the cake three times with a leaf tip.

Cake was for my grandmother's 70th (surprise) birthday luau-themed party. This was my first 3 tiered and first brush embroidary cake. Top tier was 6 inch chocolate cake w/chocolate filling. The 2nd tier was 8 inch white cake with buttercream filling. And the bottom was 10 inch pineapple cake with coconut buttercream filling. Fondant wasn't nearly as smooth as I wanted, but everyone liked it anyway.

For a 6 year old who was having a beach/Hawaiian them birthday party. The mother wanted palm trees, but I don't have access to plastic palm trees here in Japan, so I tried to make one from a large pretzel stick and buttercream leaves. I also didn't realize that it is hard to pipe icing on vanilla wafer crumbs. They were pleased. Thanks to CC for the beach theme ideas.

10" & 6" french vanilla cake - fresh strawberrry & kiwi filling - vanilla b/c with fondant accents for a 10 year old girl b-day luau. Should have inserted the sun on sticks but I wanted the sun actually coming out of the cake. Next time I would use sticks. Sand is cinnamon graham crackers but through a processor. Shells are white chocolate dry brushed w/super pearl dust. Add fresh hot pink hibiscus flowers & additional shells around base at venue.

Bottom layer is 12 inch cherry chip cake iced and filled w/ bc. Top layer is 8 inch white cake filled with cherry pie filling, iced in bc and coated in crushed graham cracker crumbs. Tiki huts are cupcakes (idea from snowy811). Palm trees are pretzel rods w/ buttercream leaves. Flowers are bc drop flowers with 4 dots instead of 1 to make them look more tropical. Hula girls and tiki torches are purchased cupcake picks.

Thanks to reenie for inspiring me with her Dora beach cake!
