I am doing a Harry Potter cake for my nephew for his birthday and made these figures to go around the cake. They are from the 1st 3 books, since those are the ones I got him for his birthday. The Philosopher Stone, Dobby the House Elf, Harry's Nimbus 2000 and the Golden Snitch and the Sorting Hat. I still need to make Buckbeak the Hippogriffe, and have no idea where to start with him so we'll see how that one goes. Made out of gumpaste/fondant mix. My first time doing figures based on a picture or movie.

Here are the rest of the Harry Potter figures I did: Buckbeak the Hippogriffe and I also decided to do a bag of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. All made out of Fondant/Gumpaste mix. Jelly Belly's used for Bertie Botts Beans.

This is the finished Harry Potter cake I did for my nephews 12th birthday. The top cake is WASC with Skor toffee bits and chocolate buttercream, the middle cake is WASC with mini chocolate chips and chocolate buttercream and the bottom cake is Mud with Oreo buttercream filling and vanilla buttercream. It was a huge hit and I was very happy with how the cake turned out!

This cake ws inspired by a great one here on CC! Harry is made from fondant. Decided to look up HP quotes and write the on the side of the cake too. My fav was "Follow the Spiders?! Why couldn't it have been "Follow the Butterflies?"- Ron Weasley. =0)

This was my FIRST fondant cake. I made this cake for my brother-in-law. Truth be told, I used box cake and Wilton fondant. I baked two 13x9's stack with buttercream icing. I made a shield template and cut it out. The animals on the shield were down with buttercream too. I really took my time with this one.

Life Size 3D Sorting Hat from Harry Potter covered in chocolate fondant and dusted with cocoa powder.

This cake was featured on CakeWrecks.com 's "Sunday Sweets" on July 12, 2009. I can't tell you what a thrill that was. There are just no words to describe the feeling.

A Harry Potter Party! The guests were encouraged to dress up and had a chance to "earn their wands" during the games! The emblems on the cake are edible rice paper transfers. I made the wands for the cake (& the games) by rolling up a sheet of typewriting paper on the diagonal, gluing down the edge. I used acrylic paint & once dry, a glue gun to make the "squiggles" up the wand, which then got painted w/gold paint. They turned out terrific and everyone's wand was different!

I made my own bday cake- inspired by the artwork on the book cover of Hp6, and by the chapter entitled "Horcruxes". Carved characters out of chocolate "clay". The rest is fondant, BC, RI. Please don't think I am a mess like on that FN challenge- my kitchen space is always clean! The "messiness" of the cake is intentional based on my interpretation of the chapter in book. Thanks for checking it out!

I made this cake for my cousin's birthday. It is chocolate cake covered with cream cheese fondant. I have been playing with fondant recipes and tried the cream cheese fondant. I loved the taste, but it is very soft and difficult to work with. My fondant was very droopy and didn't hold up well for this type of cake. I think it turned out ok, but no where near as nice as the cake by helipops from which I got the idea.
