Each Year my childrens school has a Gingerbread house contest you must do one for which a book exist... This year we did "Rudolph" The Tree and sleigh are made of dyed Gingerbread then held together with royal icing... I added battery powered lights that went to my village as a little extra "Bling" The rest of the Characters & Decorations are made out of rolled fondant... Unfortunately we didn't win but, we did get "Most Honorable Mention" Needless to say me and my kids had a fun time doing it!

I made 6 dozen of these of these for a cookie exchange. Decorated the houses with royal icing and put white, thick royal icing in the plate for snow. I made green trees out of cereal & marshmellows

Ok just found these i tryed of put them together on one page. But file was too big so i will just put a couple on
This is my very 1st ever gingerbread house. Everything is edible (part of the rules) The theme was, Twas, the night before christmas. I did this for the grove park inn competition in ashville nc, the one that is on the food network. If they show it again this year, watch it and see if you see mine it does show up in glimses. It was not a feature piece, but it does show up about 3 times.

Everything is edible except for the cardboard/foil base...
The roof looked much better from a normal standing viewpoint.... I took the pictures on level with the house.

This is a cake I submitted in competition at the Kentucky State Fair. The theme was: Holiday Cake. I love to make gingerbread houses, so I incorporated a handcrafted house into my design. The tiles on the roof are hand cut from gumpaste. I placed third overall! This was my first competition and was tickled with the honor.

I can't take credit for this one. It was a collaboration with Jarnli and much of our family. Gingerbread stable, jollyrancher stained glass star, rice crispy camels, marshmallow and licorice sheep, shredded wheat hay, chocolate covered pretzel manger, nestle Quik dirt, royal icing, candy canes, necco wafer shingles. It was a lot of fun. I wish I had a better photo.

My family celebrates Christmas in the summer -- it's easier for all eight kids and their families to get together. My sister asked that I make a "gingerbread house" for our celebration. I decided on somehing more "Thomas Kinkaid Christmas Village."

This is my where it all began, circa 2006. I had just figured out how to do RI correctly and it's taken on a life of its own from there! From there it went to mini houses, to panoramic eggs to sugar ornaments!

these are mini houses I made with a spice cake/cookie recipe. It was after Christmas, but I was so excited about learning how to do a Gingerbread house, I wanted to do more, these were an attempt for other holidays...

I made this a few years ago for my mom. It is a replica of her house. It was my first time doing a gingerbread house and I had no idea what I was doing. It really turned out WAY larger than I would have liked, but it really does look exactly like her house!

This gingerbread piece was made for a competition in Elk City, OK. I won 1st place there,
at the State Fair, and at the OSSAS. It is covered with pastillage and painted with powdered
food color mixed with grain alcohol. It's one of my favorite pieces. It was falling to pieces
in Tulsa of 2006!

My instructor was kind enough to do a gingerbread demo for my local library. There were a few new tricks I learned, but for the most part I was just playing with icing :)

My Mom and I attended a gingerbread demo held by my instructor at our local library. I think she did very well, although it wasn't technically her first time making one. She made a gingerbread house many, many years ago that fell apart but was very tasty. ( Poor thing didn't know about RI and used BC instead!!) Please leave lots of comments and encourage her to take the plunge and enter this years GB competition :)

It took me forever to remember where I had this picture... turns out it was on my phone so it's a little blurry, but not too bad. I like this particular house because of the brick indentations, and the overall "lodge" look/feel it has to it. It was my personal favorite from last Christmas.

My four year old son and I just completed this kit house. We altered the box design. He told me what to do, and I did it (just like a good mom should). He wanted sprinkle grass, a path, a pumpkin on the door (just like our house, an M for his name, a giant bat on the roof, and a giant spider web on the other side complete with a gumdrop spider. Not the best work ever, but a blast to do with my son. I highly reccommend the $7.50 fun experience!

Very simple, yet they look so beautiful on a plate together... each cookie is about 1 x 1 inches, gingerbread with royal so I dont have to worry about them knocking around each other and denting when I transport them.

This is my attempt at a Halloween Gingerbread House. Everything is edible (except for the sticks that the heads are on. The grass is colored coconut. Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Ghost are all decorated gingerbread men. The owl on the roof made from spice drops. He was supposed to sit on a Tootsie Roll tree with spice drop leaves, but we had a very warm October here, and it did not stiffen up right (after a month and a half of sitting out to harden!!)
