Carved from a 15x11 sheet cake, iced in buttercream. Most decorations were made ahead out of royal icing. Base is styrofoam, wheels are doughnuts. Details painted with silver luster dust.

Thanks to everyone who has a fire truck cake in the galleries, you were ALL inspiration for me!

This was made for my best friend's baby shower in 2003. It was all bc and I used the firetruck pan. This was a big hit at the shower because it is so bold and the shower was all primary colors with firetruck stuff! (This theme was chosen by the mom-to-be since this is how the nursery was decorated!)

Here is a sampling of cookies I made to thank our local fire department for coming to our son's third birthday party. They loved them! No Fail sugar cookies and Antonio74's Royal Icing.

My first attempt at cake decorating. I haven't taken classes, just got ideas from this great site. Need to work on my writing. Is the buttercream icing supposed to be so shiny? I made the icing using the Wilton recipe.

This is one of the cakes from this weekend. I really appreciate all of the ideas from this board and Ward's emails!! My customer wanted all IMBC and the blue wept - ugh! I had to disguise the best that I could, so not my best work unfortunatly! My customer seemed to like it and that's really what counts. Thanks for looking!

Here is a fire engine I did for my 3 year old son's birthday. I ran out of time (as usual!) and didn't get to do it justice. Good news is my son loved it anyway.

Thomas the Engine buttercream transfer. This was my first one & I wasn't expecting the little lines. Anyone know if this is how they always look like or how to get rid of the lines?

I made this for a customer's 7yr old son. All white cake (11X14 base and Wilton's Choo Choo 3D pan). All buttercream and chocolate buttercream icing. I wanted to do the face and tracks in fondant, plus add some flowers, etc.....but I ran out of time.

Sorry pix is dark! Didn't feel like replacing all the burned out bulbs in my kitchen. Used the 3D Wilton train pans and the Wonder mold pan. Sign is candy melts on a dowel.

This was for my mom's coworker's nephew. This is actually the practice cake. Believe it or not I forgot to take a picture of the actual cake (which came out SO MUCH BETTER). I really didn't take the time to make this one perfect, because it was only the practice cake. It was a big hit & my first paying job.

I used a 9 inch square cake cut down for the fire engine. It is based on Jupiter, Fireman Sam's fire engine (from the children's cartoon).

I have made this cake twice and it was very time consuming but I was pleased with how it turned out.

This was not a nice cake to decorate and even though I was happy with the result I would not like to do it again.

It is too complicated to go into too much detail but if you want more let me know and I will reply.

This was made for a little boy who liked both Thomas & Bob and his mom couldn't make her mind up which one to have as the cake. I decided to make Bob as the model and gave him a hammer so it would look like he'd put the sign up.

This was carved from 2 11x15 cakes. Everything is buttercream except the dog which is fondant and the lights are DOTS candy. It was a lot of work and I will charge more next time.

Mother sent me a photo of the paper goods she ordered for the party - I made RI run in decorations to go on cake. Cake looked great until I got it to the destination - I forgot to affix it to the cake board and it slid all over the back of the car :( Only the bottom piping got messed up though.

This is the same cake I also uploaded to the "Truck" category, but this is a different view (other side). I made a kit of this cake to give to my
Course 2 students (I teach the Wilton Method of cake decorating). The store I teach in sells my kits too. This takes a bit of effort with all the royal icing parts and color flow parts and to build the special raised base, but the results are worth the effort!
