This is my first wedding cake(s). I had to bring all of my pans, tools, and ingredients down to Florida from New Jersey for this cake. These cakes are hexagon shaped coverd in ivory rolled fondant with piped royal icing scrollwork. The cameos are made of fondant and were airbrushed. The flowers are silk. The cakes were yellow sponge cake with a chocolate gnache filling. I covered the cakes with buttercream icing before applying the fondant.

This cake was based on a business card for the Scissor Sisters Salon. The rectangle cake is chocolate with ganache filling, covered in fondant, and the swirls are luster dust. The scissors are a vanilla cake with ganache and covered in fondant. The cut out of the scissors is silver luster dust on black fondant.

These cakes were for a 13th birthday party. All of the cakes are carved and then filled with chocolate ganache mousse. Each cake is covered in fondant and then has some fondant decorations. The N stands for the birthday girls name (Nicole). I made the base by hot glueing cardboard together so that the cakes can stand up and used black satin to cover the cardboard.

For a friend's birthday. She requested these decorations! Peacepipe, suncatcher, turquoise border and Happy Birthday in Cherokee! The pipe and dream catcher were hand molded and carved out of white chocolate clay and pipe painted with food color to replicate authentic Cherokee ceremonial pipe. Rawhide fringes and leaves also white choc. Cake airbrushed to look like leather and then airbrushed with pearl dust fo the shine.

Original design by Wendy Kromer Confections.
White chocolate MMF leaves trimmed and dusted with gold glitter dust; balls (representing the grapes) made from the same MMF dusted with Aztec gold dust and covered in a hard sugar glaze. Caramel tendrills. My top layer of buttercream wrinkled for some reason and the second layer bulged. Not an easy cake to decorate. The humitidy did a number on both the leaves and the caramel. So glad this one is done!

This is a double layer giant ding dong cake I made for a friend at work to celebrate the return of hockey season. Gold and green are luster dust, letters and base of star are buttercream. Icing is from Giant Ding Dong cake recipe from Cake Central.com. I made a double layer because a single layer wasn't tall enough to look like a hockey puck.

This is a carrot pinapple cake with crusting cream cheese frosting. White chocolate shells dusted with luster dust. It was pretty much one disaster after another! First my cake pans overflowed then my icing would not crust... ARGGG. Anyway it turned out ok and was a big hit!

I made this for the Red Hat Society in my area. Their main colors are red and purple so I wanted to incorporate both. The base cake is vanilla with pastry cream and strawberries. The dome is chocolate cake with whipped cream. Both are covered in fondant. The roses are fondant as well as the leaves and luster dusted.

Fondant is MMF, first time working with it and I love It! Lots of luster dust involved in this one. I was shooting for a lighter silver, but I like how it turned out.

I took this Orchid class with Scott Wooley in NYC last weekend, amidst the blizzard! It was a very nice class...met women from as far as Turkey, Canada and some locals who were doing it as a hobby. He's a very good instructor; these were made in class!

This was my very first commission AND my very first time to work with fondant!! For the middle cake I ran into a problem trying to get the fondant to go on smoothly down the sides. I ended up gathering it in the front, hence the flowers to cover my mistake. Someone tell me how to do the fondant right, please! I painted the leaves and pansies with super luster dust. The flowers are royal icing, the leaves buttercream. The top cake was supposed to be quilted. The lines were really faint, though. Help!

This is a cake that I did for s project class that I am teaching in April. The cake uses fondant, airbrushing, molded gumpaste, hand painted accents and luster dust. The coral and sand dollars are made of royal icing and have airbrushed color or luster dust on them to add color or highlights.

First attempt at a tilted cake. Did this for a local cake contest....learned as I went. My theme was obviously KSU...but took it a step further and put our instate rival's mascot "in jail" on the back side! LOLOL They're Jayhawks....as if anyone cares!!!!!!!!!!! MMF was a mess for me....too dry and not a smooth application at all. Gumpaste flowers with floral ribbon and filler added. Luster Dust and Pearl Dust here and there. FUN but stressful!

This was suppose to be the shoe box with a lid and tissue paper but I got lazy and just placed the shoe on top. It was made for my 2-year old that loves shoes and purses. It was the first time I made a chocolate mold AND first time I used my luster dust.

Not sure how this is going to look....scanned it into my computer from a printed photo. Anyway, this is chocolate and white cake, covered in fondant, decorated with ribbon and luster dust. Snippets of songs, poetry, and such. He must've liked it....he's got a big picture of it as the last page in their wedding album.

Actually was my very first attempt at the Wilton contest. Can't remember what kind of cake, but covered in fondant and decorated with buttercream, trying to make it look embroidered. Painted the braids on the front with gold luster dust.

I did this to fulfill a gift certificate I donated to my moms club. I also included in the box as a gift the bride a nd groom pictured in my album. I loved how it turned out, but that gold on the bells was a REAL pain.

Offset Square Tiers, September 2005. Three square cakes, with a 3" difference in size (6", 9" and 12"). Note to fellow decorators: Offset squares like these should be FOUR inches different in size -- or corners hang off tiers underneath! Largest cake is carrot with whipped white chocolate ganache and cream cheese fillings. Top two are dummies. All were covered with buttercream and fondant. Details were royal icing, then painted with metallic dust mixed with clear alcohol.

This cake is iced smooth with buttercream icing. Bride wanted a simple cake with holly leaves and berries. Holly leaves and berries were made with royal icing on a pre-printed pattern on top of wax paper. Edible pearls were coated with pearlized luster dust.

Had to deliver this cake on a Friday morning in a snow storm that closed down the public school system. I was barely able to get out of the driveway with my car......not one holly leaf fell off....Whewww!

Sorry this picture is not very clear. It is an older 35mm picture that has been scanned onto my computer.

This cake is iced smooth in buttercream icing. Each layer has pre-pressed scrolls encircling the layers. These scrolls are piped using buttercream icing. Also accenting the cake are edible pearls coated in pearlized luster dust. Florist placed the petals on and around the cake.
