I used the actual cake pan as a dummy.Covered it with saran wrap and BC.Fondant covered, first time scrolls, rose and leaves. The scrolls and dots are made with BC.The color is weird,I wanted black, but I learned is very hard to make black from scratch. It turned out like a rusted iron color.Need more practice with the scrolls. My husband came back from work and was very happy thinking he was going to eat cake ;) Oh,those moments...

The bride wanted the "Mac Daddy of all cakes" for her wedding, but she didn't want to serve a lot of cake. The 8x8 squares in the satellites are styrofoam blocks with 6" round CAKE on top of all four. The 16" round right above the fountain is also styrofoam with real cake atop that. This cake served about 125 pieces of cake. It was pretty impressive, if I do say so myself!!

Round cake dummies, fondant covered,BC decorations and fondant flowers. My first attempt at cherry blossoms, well sort off (Im crazy about them, reminds me the day I got married). The tree is painted with Wilton brown, and the little fuschia blossoms are BC (big mistake, nothing like RI to decorate).Borders are BC,cornelli lace on the top,all the cake dusted with super pearl.I wanted the green ribbon to be satin but I forgot to buy it.Fondant ribbon is a little hard to make.I had a lot of fun.

This is the first of THREE cakes I am making for a friends birthday tonight. I couldn’t decide which cake I wanted to make so I am doing all three!!! This is a dummy cake so she will be able to take it home with her. I can’t post a cake with a figure on it without thanking Aine2… without her I would have never ventured into the modelling world :)

This is my first dummy cake. It's covered in tiffany blue tinted fondant, hand cut flowers and chocolate fondant branches. This is loosely based on a cake by the cakegirls in Chicago. I was scared to death people weren't going to like this one but I wanted to do something different. By the end of the day, there were LOTS of people taking pictures of it!!

This is a dummy I made just for fun and like an experiment.Fondant color is very light sage and chocolate color scrolls.I wanted the scrolls like dark chocolate, but had no more wilton coloring gel.For the scrolls I used a mix of RI that I made and some piping gel from a recipe I wanted to try.It was a little thick but worked good,it makes perfect dots.Sorry about the bad piping. When you have a 4 yr old running around, everybody gets nervous :)

Cake Dummy with corneli lace and dots with artificial flowers. Not real happy that my "arches" aren't consistent, but this was the last of 4 cake dummies I did this weekend and my hand is ready to fall off! Oh well, overall I like the idea, I just need more practice. Thanks for looking!

The second tier of this cake is a dummy. Small wedding but they wanted a big presence for the cake.

I done this, now completed though, to show my students how a basket weave can be beautiful for a tiered cake. I had brought some flowers to show them. However, the decorator in me, later in the week, finished the dummy cake. I forgot to take a pic of it :(

I made these for a double 21st birthday - the dice cake is a dummy and it was presented with 9 individual chocolate cakes for dessert. I used fondant and lots of gold and bronze edible glitter/sparkles.

I saw a similar idea in a local wedding magazine and fell in love. This is a dummy cake covered in Wilton's fondant. The cornelli lace and dots were done in RI, the flowers are artificial, and the butterflies I found in the floral section.

I made this to display in my cousins toy and ice cream store. All the decorations are inspired by the decorations in the store. I'm hoping to get some buisness having it on display there.

Dummy cake with royal icing and MMF. I know this is not a designer looking purse, but I thought that the Chanel logo would look pretty on it ;)

This was my first Fondant cake, MMF, Stacked cake, cake dummy.
All made with MMF (love it)... middle layer is a dummy covered in MMF. Everyone gobbled it up and no one wanted to cut it... Made me happy with my creation.

This cake was made for a friend that wanted thier cake completely fake. I tried to talk her out of it, but she insisted. She wanted to display it in a glass case in her living room. The stargazer's are gumpaste and my first attempt at them.

All MMF. This is a pre-Rigsby photo. The dog took out that bottom cluster of roses soon after this picture was taken. Mom and I thought it looked a bit plain when we finished with it. It needs more roses and maybe another element. We just ran out of time...

The coolest thing about this cake is that I needed a dummy really quickly and so I used a papermache hat box. It worked great!! Marbeled Toba's fondant in coconut. Made in my class at Joann's with the best WMI!! Yeah Tina!!! She is awesome!

All but the heart in the center was a "faux" cake. The couple wanted a grand cake but only had a few guests. They were thrilled! The bride had no hand in the decision making as the groom wanted to suprise her! I decorated with royal icing. A tip I received from the shop where I bought the dummy cakes was to cover them with contact paper (white) for easy removal of the icing later. It worked great!

Here's the first cake done for my Fondant and Gumpaste class. It's also my first dummy cake, the high humidity was giving me very serious problems. It includes various techniques accomplished during class( So much so that I lovingly refer to it as my "Frankenstein" cake!)
