This cake was for a girl who's birthday is on St. Patrick's Day, who is Irish, and is planning a trip to Ireland this summer with her family. My FBCT of the Celtic Knot broke, so I had to improvise last minute.

This is chocolate cake with cream cheese icing. The customer wanted a Celtic Cross on the cake. I did outline on cake with icing and filled in with more icing. I wasn't really pleased with the cross, but I liked the way the rest of it turned out. Oh well, back to the drawing board!!!

Here is a cake I made for a bridal shower. It is Key Lime cake with a wonderful homemade key lime filling covered in MMF. Made MMF roses and Shamrocks for the top and attempted to do scrolls on the sides.

Didn't want to take it out of the box because it was almost 5" high and quite heavy but here is the side view of the wedding cake. Customer loved it. Thanks again to all who helped.

White cake with BC icing, fondant cross with luster dusts. For two teenage boys that like Irish and medieval things. Tried a celtic cross with masculine colors.

This was for a friend's surprise 40th. Did a lot of research to get the type style accurate. All buttercream on the outside, the inside was chocolate with mascerated strawberry filling. YUM!

This was made for the anniversary of a military couple. Their wedding was simple as they wore blue jeans, so I used denim material for the cake board. The cake is Triple Chocolate with Creme de Menthe flavored BC and Fondant. The broques and mold on top are made of chocolate.

This cake was a disaster from day one! Top tier is all chocolate and the rest are half chocolate, half yellow. Icing is buttercream with RI knots and ribbon border. Went to set up the cake at the hall and they weren't ready so it was set up in one place and then they moved it when the cake table was ready :( There are so many things wrong with this cake it would take forever to mention so lets just say it was a learning experience both in the kitchen and out!

This is a 1/2 sheet cake I did for a friends 1st wedding anniversary. Her colors were white and lavender. They went to Ireland for their honeymoon so I did the celtic knot in honor of that. The knot is done in white chocolate.

Carved from a 9x13. Used the side cuts to extend the sleeves which worked easily. Loved the cuts under the MMF to give more of the fabric appearance. the gentleman loved the cake enough he wouldn't cut it and took it to show his co workers:)

White cake with embossed buttercream and dragees, fondant tissue paper and fondant covered styrofoam lid. Gumpaste bow and edible image on fondant gift tag with Celtic design. Thanks to Fairytale and KimAZ for their help on how to support the lid - I ended up using white chocolate on top of the dowels.

i made this one for my sister's wedding. She was having a theme wedding but wanted a bit of the irish heritage of the groom added into the cake. The bottom layer was 6" tall ginger cake and the other layers were 5" tall decadent chocolate. All iced in butterscotch flavored buttercream and covered in homemade fondant. Fondant was not cooperating as it was a modified recipe using agar-agar instead of knox gelatin. It definately made a difference in workability and wasn't as smooth as I would have liked.

An at-home wedding reception for family. They wanted a celtic/medieval theme, so I went with a celtic symbol for eternity. Thought I would practice for a 5 layer, real flower between layers gig I have for Dec. Learned alot! #1: it takes a lot of flowers :) #2 need shorter pillars :) or the 5 layer will be 20ft :O)

This cake has a Celtic heart and a Celtic braid. I don't like how the heart turned out, will do a different technique next time like a butter cream transfer or color flow. Fondant flowers in red and black around the sides. This is a 6" 10" cake. Red velvet with cream cheese filling. Buttercream frosting.

I was very pleased with this cake. The Bride was very happy too. It is covered in MMF with celtic knots piped around each tier. The roses were real. Merry Christmas to all!

All fondant except for buttercream writing and Celtics and Redsox logos. This was a birthday cake for a big poker fan. It was presented to him at a 20 person poker tournament he was hosting. No one would cut it. Thanks to CCer for pedestal table legs idea!

My family and I compete in the Scottish Highland Games (think ancient track and field. We also throw the "telephone poles", i.e. the caber). This is supposed to look like one of the weights we throw for height. Orange, so we won't LOSE it. :D The round handle and the U shape on top are molded chocolate, and the link is fondant, since I couldn't think of an easy way to make a chocolate chain link. And it had to travel well, so I just used fondant.

It isn't exactly 3-D, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this... It's the Scottish flag, with some celtic knots on the top and bottom, along with a thistle (Scotland's national flower) and a Rampant Lion. The blue part is spray-painted buttercream, the "X" is fondant strips, and the thistle, lion and knot work are white chocolate. Painted, in the case of the thistle.

This is a tribute to our Irish heritage. Celtic knotwork done on fondant. The cake itself is a mashed potato cake (another nod to Ireland) from a recipe on the Taste of Home website.

chocolate stout cake with ganache filling covered with chocolate frosting and rolled buttercream. Celtic knot is chocolate transfer.
First time using both rbc and choco transfer. Made mistakes with both-need to practice to figure out how to correct next time.
