This is a cake I was asked to make for a man that works in the building industry.
It is chocolate mud cake, with poured chocolate icing and white chocolate between the bricks. The trowel is made of gumpaste and placed in a gumpaste tray with royal icing in it. Thank you very much to the people that helped me with the trowel, your suggestions were fantastic!!! Thanks for looking, Mel

This was done using the teqchnique I learned in a lida Snow class. I used the flat side oif a basketweave tip. You just mke whatever size bricks you desire then stagger the next row. You can fill in or leave the spaces as is.

This entire cake was done in buttercream, with the exception of the poppies that were made with royal icing. The ruby slippers are made using the Wilton Ballet Slippers pan and pillars were used to make them look like they had heals.

Another view of my scratch white cake (with vanilla buttercream, a vanilla fondant road & chocolate transfer rainbow). The mom had purchased these figures & the little girl who was turning 6 wanted them on the cake. She wanted ALL SIX figures on the cake :-O but said she definitely wanted at least Dorothy and the Good Witch!

Thanks for looking! :o)

I made this as a trial for my Birthday. The official one will be pink & is for a friend who's 4 year old loves Glinda.
I used the 1/2 ball cake & a 6inc cake for the cake skirt. I the another 1/2 ball for the bridge like form. Cupcakes of course for the yellow brick road. All are covered in BC, I used gumpaste for the side of the bridge and the crown.
My friend wants BC, I want to make another with Fondant now. Thanks to all our fellow cc'rs for all the inspiration.

Wizard of Oz cake for my daughters 5th birthday. Bottom is two layer, 8 x 2 inch round (chocolate). Top is two layer, 6 x 2 inch round (confetti). The Emerald City is made of pretzel rods covered in melted white chocolate chips and I added green food dye while melting. Attached Emerald City to the cake with popsicle sticks, although my chocolate was a little messy so I couldn't push it all the way in. Not a great photo...cell phone photo taken at hotel.

Where to begin? I got the basic idea of the brick wall from Lisa's design. First time to make a fondant figure that had to look like something specific. The request was for a spiderman cake with a yo-yo somehow incorporated. The cake is 9X13 yellow box cake with BC icing. The brick is MMF and the Spiderman is Wilton fondant. This was alot of fun and I was overall happy with the turn out. The customer was ecstatic!

My first cake photo on CC! This was a combo birthday cake for my 4yo daughter and my final for Wilton III. My first tiered cake. I used CakeBoss's tutorial. Thanks, CakeBoss! I made all kinds of rookie mistakes, but loved how it turned out. My DD was thrilled!

Spiderman is fondant/gumpaste mix. Everything else is buttercream or hersheys fudge icing. It later got a "billboard" sign with the happy birthday message - unfortunately I forgot to get a picture of that! Thanks for looking.

Done for a man in his 50's who's also a Floyd fan.
I sprayed the sides with Wilton canned color, then drew on the lines - trying to keep them level.
