This was my first attempt at a 3-D cake- way before I found this site, I did it in 2001. This cake made me cry- literally. But my husband's brother and his wife still liked it- despite it falling apart on me and me placing straws in it to keep the whole thing from coming completely apart. It's supposed to look like a john boat- haha not quite.

For a good client, one of the catamaran sides was chocolate with fudge filling, the other side was all key lime.

Thanks to bccreations cruise ship photo for inspiration for this cake! This was the groom's cake for my brother's wedding. They take lots of cruises and are going on one for their honeymoon.
Cake is a 11x15 carved, then a 9x13 carved, with another carved 9x13 on top. It took me 3 days to finally complete this so I was glad when it was all done! Well worth it though, it was such a hit!

This order was for a lady that wanted cookies decorated as Christmas toys. She will be putting them in a white organza bag (It is for a tablescape theme). The drum, toy soldier and boat cookies were handcut, hence the rough edges.

This is a white cake with a banana mouse filling. I cut the sheet cake to make it look like a boat. Everything is iced with buttercream with some fondant accents, ie: arms, nose flag, plaque in the back. I got the idea from the Cake Corner web site, thanks! Thanks for looking!

This cake is great for birthdays & Baby Shower. The base started out round stacked layers and was cut to correct shape. Top is made from gingerbread cookies using modified house shape. Figures are combination buttercream and purchased Lucks sugar decorations. Buttercream & airbrush.

My step-daughter & I made this cake for my husband for his birthday this year. We used a lot of unedible pieces because we were short on time & I've never tried fondant. We painted all the props with non toxic paint. The image in the boat is a picture of my DH with a fish he caught on our lake.
We love our lake & all the fish, frogs & turtles we see so this cake was all about that.

My Sister-in-Law and I did this for my Grandfather's 75th Birthday. We didn't need that big of a cake so the bottom layer is a dummy cake. It is all covered with Buttercream icing.

The couple married & had their reception river-side; they would depart the reception via boat so they picked this for their cake. The boat and couple are hand molded. Trees are choco transfer - uuggg very delicate! and shells are choco molded. Tiers are iced in buttercream. Unfortunately no matter how many times & ways I tried I could NOT get the man to sit up straight! :(

I discovered that this kind of cake works better with yellow or white cake. I tried to use chocolate but the cake was too moist and broke apart. My husband (with an engineering degree) tried his best but to no avail. : ) So if you want to make a cake along these lines don't even bother with chocolate. Thanks for looking.

This was for a customer who was throwing a 'Noah's Ark' themed baby shower. White cake, all buttercream icing. I used a 11X15 base, then the football pan upside down and a loaf pan on top of that (i carved out the roof). On the front is pigs, elephants, lions....snakes on the front deck & birds on top. Spiders on the left side of the roof & mice on the right side deck. Cows, hippos & giraffes on the back. Oh, and fish in the water (my 5 yr old son still insisted that it needed sharks in the water too)

Here's a cake that I did for a wedding shower. I actually got this idea from a cake done by neicey1971 and added a few of my own touches. All buttercream with fondant daisies on the brides cake and piping gel for water on the grooms.

This is my first 'paid' cake for a friend of a friend. I used store bought fondant and it was a pretty basic design, but I had fun making it. Although I'm not ready to go into business any time soon. I don't know how anyone actually makes money with these???

My DH was nice enough to say...NO PROBLEM, she can do one with Deep Sea Fishing! It took forever to find a picture with this theme, he had originally said I could put a toy boat on it. (HE obviously hasn't shopped for one recently, there are none such boats available in my area!) I outlined some of the detail work on the edible with buttercream, just to make it stand out more.

This cake was the easiest hard cake I've made. My customer insisted on whipped cream icing even though I had never made it before. I should have had a test batch but didn't have time. I ended up making butter out of the cream and had to run to ACMoore and pick up Wilton's Vanilla Whipped Icing at the last minute. But all in all I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Enjoy!

I made this for a co-worker's birthday. She's a twin and they both LOVE the beach. He usually fishes while she catches some sun.

11X15" chocolate, chocolate chip cake with buttercream icing and gumpaste figures. Everything is edible except for his fishing pole and a few toothpicks holding things together.

The cake was coconut with Chocolate Ganache filling and BC icing and fondant accents/ figures. The boat didn't get to be as detailed as I wanted it because the cake was falling apart in my hands. But it was a big hit. There is an anchor, a life preserver, and and a couple of crabs. One of the crabs was caught by the fishing line I put on the fishing rod. Thanks for looking!

My husband wanted a pontoon boat on this cake sinced the guest of honor owns one and loves to fish. I stuggled with this cake trying to come up with an idea with a pontoon boat on it. I couldn't find any examples. I did my best with it, and then later found good examples I could have done. Oh well, everyone liked it! The fishes are Swedish fish (gummies).

This was made for my uncle-in-law's b-day. It is showing his backyard. Tha cake is vanilla with BC frosting. The boat, dock, lighthouse, treasure chest, and flags are made from fondant. The rocks are candy, the sand is graham cracker crumbs and the picnic table is a dollhouse accessory. He loved the cake so much he froze it until Labor Day!!
