Did this for a baby shower. I loved doing it, although it took me forever. It was one of the firsts that I did and I had a hard time getting my BC temperature right.

this is all mmf.its softer than wilton brand so it took forever to get it on straight with out tearing but it does taste better.you cant tell from this pic but there is a mmf drape around the back of the hood also.

This is a 3d bassinet decorated with buttercream icing. The baby was made out of fondant. This is the best way to make a bassinet cake being that it's always hard to find something that looks like the hood of the bassinet.

This cake was so fun to make! It actually turned out almost exactly like my drawing. I usually change the plan part way through decorating, but not this time! Each cake is a different flavor, white on the bottom, then chocolate, lemon, and topped with a chai bassinet. All buttercream except for the butterflies, which are not edible.

This cake was done for a friend of my cousin. I didn't really have an idea so I decided to try this bassinet. It didn't come out as well as I had hoped but I guess it was O.K. By the time the cake made it to the shower, the mother had made it to the hospital. The little girl decided to come early...they put the cake in the fridge and ate it when mother and baby came home.

White cake with buttercream icing and fondant accent pieces. I didn't allow enough time for the "hood" which began as royal icing to dry. I wound up baking a layer using the other half of the egg pan (the first half held the still drying royal icing).

My friend wanted a cake for a couple's Baby Shower. She handed me a blue polka-dot napkin and said they are both music instructors and told me to come with something. I incorporated musical notes on the sides and on the quilt as well as polka-dots on the quilt. It it a yellow cake with 2 - 2" layers and Buttercream Icing.

I've seen this one done many times but I'm still proud of mine lol. The hood is made of royal icing I molded around a bottle, and fondant ruffles.

I know that this cake needs more decoration. It went on a camping trip. I had to ice the cake the day before we left, then it was supposed to ride there in a friend's RV fridge. I was supposed to be able to finish the decorating at the campsite, but there wasn't much room to do so, plus it was frickin hot outside and it was iced in bettercream. The bassinet was royal. It didn't turn out like i wanted it. The cake was tasty. It was 10" 4 layer strawberry and white cake swirled with strawberry filling.

Saw a picture of a cake similar to this one in a older Wilton book. Loved it and decided to try it! Made this to go with three sheetcakes for a huge baby shower!

Another view . . . this one is not as good. I had a cake disaster with the first round - the top collapsed, and I had to redo the whole cake at 3 in the morning. i was not as pleased with the outcome of this cake.

Okay... this cake caused me such problems but I somehow pulled it together at the last minute. I had made a canopy out of gumpaste. It never hardened up. I had made a cowboy hat with it this past weekend and it worked fine. So had to come up with something else quick. I ended up using white candy melts. Thank goodness it seemed to work. The cake is 2 white cake baked in oval pans. Ruffles are part MMF and BC.

I would like to thank dinkadoo for taking her time to give me advice and tips in making this cake...I saw a photo in her gallery and was in total awe...couldn't wait for the opportunity to make one of these cakes myself...Thanks dinkadoo!!!

Bottom layers are white cake, one layer is pink the other layer is blue, (the mother to be doesn't know the baby's plumbing yet)...the round/hood layer is pineapple cake with a pineapple cream cheese filling and the entire cake is iced in butter cream icing..the blanket, bear, ducky and rattle are fondant and the roses are gumpaste..I used the baby shower invitation as the inspiration for this cake.

This was my final cake for Wilton cake course 3. I don't really like it that much because I had a different vision then how it actually turned out but it was good practice. The bassinet is made out of fondant and royal frosting.

11x15 two layer basketweave cake. Unsure of sex of baby so they wanted a boy and girl used and only wanted the colors pink and blue. Candy melts used for the decorations on the blanket. Ruffles and rope border finish the decorations.

I made these cakes for my co-worker who's expecting twins. She was really surprised because she called in sick that day so the surpise shower was almost on the office staff instead. We didn't want to freeze these cakes over the weekend so we decided to trick her to come into the office by telling her she had to participate in a meeting with an angry customer. Our idea worked and she came in to the office and was surprised. It's a good thing she didn't go into labour! I know I would have been stressing!!

Chocolate cake, with fudge buttercream frosting. Fondant flowers, butterfly, and leaves. Ivy is RI. Blanket is Almond Bark candy clay. Bunny is stuffed! :) Bassinet hood made from a cookie, covered in chocolate buttercream, and held together with RI. The Buttercream was very tricky, it kept melting! (maybe too humid, maybe I mixed up the recipe wrong...I don't know!)

White Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Pudding filling, BC icing with fondant baby clothes and Bassinet. Done for my son's school teacher who is expecting her first baby,.. a girl. I hope she likes it as it is a surprise. He asked if we could make a cake for her,.. imagine that! Well it was fun, wish I could have spent more time on the clothes adding more details like buttons, ruffles, etc. Ran out of time though. Idea came from lots of great cakes here on CC. Thanks all!! Enjoy!

Well here is my first baby shower cake=) It is based of the "Froggy Tales" bedroom set. The mom-to-be chose not to know the baby's genger. It is a vanilla cake with cherry cheesecake mousse. Top frosted in buttercream, bottom in whipped white chocolate ganache. Not perfect by any means, but a whole lot of fun and I learned so much from doing this cake!
