Chocolate ganache covered cake with canolli filling. Photo shot with my camera phone onsite. Since both parents are Asian and they are going to China to adopt a little girl, I thought it would be unique to design an Asian theme cake instead of the traditional pink. The moth orchids are made from gumpaste, as is the fortune cookie & bamboo. I hand painted the baby using an original photo of the toddler. Gumpaste fortune cookie has a Happy Adoption message. Thanks for looking!

White cake covered in fondant, royal icing cherry blossom limbs and fondant cherry blossoms. Spout, handle, dollie and teacups are Pettinice as well. Since the cake was smaller, I also made cherry blossom sugar cookies to go along with it. I learned a lot from this cake and your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Wedding cake in white and green accents with Chinese "shuang xi" character used for weddings. This was for our "registry" marriage -- the "big cake" for the "big wedding" this year will also have the Chinese theme but it will be bigger. Had to have the Chinese characters after a decade living in Taiwan! All buttercream with fresh flowers.

Small 6" cake . Whole top of cake is chocolate topper out of white chocolate (made red) traced over design on wax paper and filled in with the white chocolate. Cake covered in mmf with mmf flowers and BC piping. Character on side of cake is supposed to be that of LOVE...my calligraphy is not the best:) Top design was found in book. I don't know what the symbol is.

These are white cake with a raspberry jam filling. These were my first ever, and boy did I learn a lot and learn what NOT to do. They were fun. I used the poured fondant recipe from this site, but found when you tint the color, it gets darker as you go. I used gold luster dust.

Two tier 10' - 7" wedding cake in Asian design. Red rolled fondant covered. Fondant square draped over top, to give the illusion of fabric draping. Super gold luster dust hand painted filagree work. Large Chinese character "Xi" (meaning double happiness...like the BEST wishes EVER for the couple) made out of royal icing and painted in super gold. Super gold painted g-paste braided borders, hand painted gum paste cherry blossom flowers around base and in center. Sprayed gold new style Wilton pillars.

Take-out box with sushi rolls I made for a 12 yr old who wanted an Asian themed birthday. The sushi is Twinkies cut and wrapped with Fruit Rollups. It is a chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream icing. The Chinese symbols on the cake I found on Google. They represent love, Sara, and Happy Birthday Sara.

This is for a children's Asian themed birthday. Supposedly the message states "Happy Birthday" in Chinese, but I don't speak Chinese. I only copied what was given to me!

I was so scared when I tried to make the dragon because I didn't know what I was doing . I don't like making figures nor do I have much patience for doing them. But I'm quite please with how it turned out and it wasn't that hard at all. It wass just a band of fondant form into a squiggly shape, then I added the royal icing spikes. For scales I use a tip 12 to make an imprint. Once I put the gold luster on, it looked much better. lol.

This was my first time stacking a buttercream cake. I've done stacked fondant cakes, no problem. This time I was scared, I had to take several deep breaths, but I did it. The butter cream isn't as smooth (I have to keep practicing that technique) as I would have liked. My sister loved it with all it's flaws. LOL.

This was for a bridal shower for a chinese couple. The double happiness is used in weddings as a good luck symbol. I used colorflow and painted it with luster dust. The sprinkles around the cake are gold luster - but in flake form. Icing is IMBC

This was by far the most bizzarre cake request I've ever recieved. My best friends boyfriends 21st birthday cake and this is what he wanted. Ying yang cake, half chocolate with white frosting and half yellow with chocolate frosting. Instead of dots he wanted one to be a dracula and the other to be a brown bear wearing a baseball hat. My best friend insisted that i just do dots. oh and No filling. A 2 layer cake no filling. i painted luster dist on the white MMF

Created for the East Central Arts Council juried art show which opens November 11, 2006. She is a torted one layer sculpted butter cake folded like a sandwich. Except for the four cake dowels in the screen behind her and the one cake dowel in the cake, this artist doll and screen is entirely edible. Satin Ice Fondant, royal icing, piping gel and luster dust accents. Thank you for looking.

My sister-in-law loves anything asian/ oriental so I kinda went with that for the theme. The lemon frosting was a little thinner then it probably should've been so things started to slide a little :) but it tasted great. Lemon cake, lemon filling, lemon BC frosting. She loooooves lemon! I used fondant for the base a little left over icing and gel paste to make the butterfly.

This cake was due today at 1.00. Started decorating after Humphrey cake was picked up last night. Buttercake filled with caramel and cream, with a coconut syrup. Covered in red crusting buttercream. The people were made using the Wilton mini stand up bear pan and covered in fondant. The girl arrived 2 hours early and i wasnt ready, therefore i had to take a picture of the cake in the box, no time for set ups ; ), i finished the happy anniversary sign while she waited in my living room hehehehe.

This was definitely not my favorite cake, but the bride and groom loved it. They took the dragon idea from a cake they found online and I replicated it the best I could. The dragon took forever to do but I am really happy with the way it turned out. The bride asked for all of the different colors to be used, and luckily, she liked them b/c I was afraid after she saw them all together she would change her mind, but she didn't! YAY! French Vanilla cake with chocolate WCBC filling and BC icing.

Inspired by a couple of cakes I saw on here. Inside is an Almond Sponge cake and Orange Buttercream. Outside covered in fondant. Branches were piped on with royal icing and the cherry blossoms were also glued on with royal icings. Cherry blossoms were cut out of fondant, dried in egg crates to shape them, and then painted with luster dust. There's about 170 of them on the cake. Kanji was done free-hand with food coloring and vodka. Working on getting a better photo. Not bad for my first wedding cake

This cake was much better in my head when I dreamed it up!! I made the mistake of using the curved plate...also, I put the cake in the fridge overnite after i finished and it must have shrunk cause the velvet ribbons were all too loose the next day. Very disappointing. It was a chocolate coffee cake with vanilla buttercream icing. I made this before I knew how to build up square corners...I did my best with the limited knowledge I had!!

Hand painted cake of an argus pheasant. I kept the food coloring very runny to get the watercolor look. I highlighted with colored frosting of blue, yellow, and white. I did green frosting for the shrubbery around the pheasant.

A customer frantically called me on Friday asking if I could make this cake for Saturday. Her usual baker flaked out at the last minute and she had no cake for her son's party which was being thrown at a Japanese steakhouse. This is what I came up with. Bottom tier is a 9" square cake, the middle tier is 7" square and the top is 5" square. These are covered in red fondant, then brushed with cranberry petal dust. The eaves are fondant brushed with super gold lusterdust. Thanks for looking! :-)
