I made this cake for a suprise 80s theme dinner party. They loved it....thank goodness because it didn't come out right at all but despite my frumpy Rubik's cube they still liked it.

I made this cake for a co-worker to take with her to the Pocono's, where they'll be celebrating her mother's 80th birthday. It's an 11X15" homemade carrot cake with walnuts & covered in crusting cream cheese icing. The roses are butter cream.

This one was for a friend's 34th birthday which was an '80's themed party. 3 8" squares w/black bc and fondant cutout squares. It was a hit - even though everyone had black teeth from the icing!

This is fast becoming my signature cake. This has a softer look than the first time I did this cake. This was a great cake to make but it also had to travel by plane to Adelaide 1700kms away. I have heard it made it and the Guest of honour was most impressed. I will post another view of this cake

Numbers are candy melts, with gold luster dust. Flowers are MMF...I stink at flowers!! The customer wanted that whole huge saying on it, so I made a little plaque and wrote it out instead.

Created for an 80's theme party. Single layer cake frosted with buttercream and covered in fondant. All the decorations are also fondant. I brushed the Aqua Net can with a little pearl luster dust to make it shine and accented the can with silver luster dust. Writing and small details were done with Wilton's edible ink markers. The ball border at the bottom is buttercream.

To celebrate the eightieth birthday of a guy who was very active in his life. He suffered a stroke some 4 years ago and has had to learn to walk/talk all over again. His wife wanted "just a sheet cake" but I thought this design would be a little more fun without reminding him of all his hobbies he cannot do now. I used the enhanced cake recipe from cc, which turned out DELICIOUS! Two 8" rounds for the 8, one 8" round and part of a 6" square for the 0. Some tight spaces to decorate, but relatively easy.

This is what the customer decided for the 80's birthday. I'm not sure if Twister was started in the 80's but that is what he wanted. 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 white, buttercream icing with rolled buttercream accents.

This is a 1/4 sheet done in all buttercream. It was for a 13th birthday with an 80s theme. She didn't know anything about the 80s and said as long as it was neon colors she didn't care! This is the final product.

This was a cake I made for an 80th birthday. The '8' is French vanilla, and the '0' is chocolate fudge while the smaller cake was marble fudge. All with buttercream icing with stabilized whipped cream filling. The $20 bill is there as a point of reference on how big this thing was. Only my fellow CCers will truly understand the undertaking of this basketweave!

I was asked to create a cake that incorporated Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, My Little Ponies and a career as a film producer; here's what I came up with. All iced in buttercream with fondant accents.

This was a cake for my DH's grandpa. My first tiered cake, using dowel rods and all that!
Bottom layer was white cake, cookies and cream filling and BC with edible images.
2nd layer was chocolate cake, homemade caramel filling (from boiling sweetened condensed milk), and BC with a quilted pattern press.
Top layer was white cake with BC filling and BC icing, with another edible image.
The gold that you see was luster dust mixed with almond extract and painted on the BC.
The gold bow was ribbon

Boombox cake for 80's themed birthday party! First completely fondant covered cake - learned that I needed more support -the weight of the fondant kind of smooched the cake more than I thought it would. Customer loved it!!

I made this cake for my niece's 13th birthday partty. The "picture" is a BCT of her and her best friend at Halloween. They were Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World. This was my first attempt at BCT and although it didn't turn out PERFECT, I can't wait to try it again. The cake is covered in rainbow MMF. Since the theme was "80's"(um..yeah, she was BORN in 1992;) I also put a Rubik's cube cake on top. Kind of a mixture of themes, but the birthday girl LOVED it.
