This was a farewell cake to the Band director at my daughter's high school. Cake is covered in fondant, figure is fondant, back drop is chocolate, sheets of music are rice paper. Pls notice the printed "music" around the sides of the cake. All decorations are edible! No wood or plastic used here.

I made the dogs for the top of my Aunt's Birthday cake. She loves her Springer spaniels that she got from a Springer Spaniel Rescue group. The top of the cake says "Springer Spaniels are like potao chips...
You can never have just one!"

I made this for a boy's birthday. The design is from the 2002 Wilton Yearbook. I used the Stand-Up Cuddly Bear pan. The icing is buttercream. The scales and toenails are candy melts.

I made this for Thanksgiving. Inspired by the Wilton project called "Gobble It Up" on their website. It is a strawberry pound cake with buttercream icing. The pan used was the 3D Rubber Ducky. The feathers are chocolate candy melts. The shapes came from a leaf mold.

This was my first attempt at a 3-D cake- way before I found this site, I did it in 2001. This cake made me cry- literally. But my husband's brother and his wife still liked it- despite it falling apart on me and me placing straws in it to keep the whole thing from coming completely apart. It's supposed to look like a john boat- haha not quite.

This is my 22nd Annual 2005 San Diego Cake Club's Cakes on Parade Cake Contest entry in the Scuplture category. This cake didn't place in the top 3 but I got soooo many inquiries and postive comments on it. Appearently the crowds and my fellow decorators loved it, just not the judges. This was an engineering feat getting the flower bowl to stay on top of the "batter pour". Decorated in fondant, gumpaste, pastillage, royal icing, rice paper, and lots of pearl, luster dusts, and edible glitter.

Made this for my grandaughters 4th birthday. Planned on doing a cat on a bed but since I had cake scraps leftover I added three kittens. She just loved it and saved one of the kittens for later. We can now add basket weave to our repetoir. My daughter-in-law has got her buttercream down pat now.

This cake was made for my Mother's Group combined 3rd birthday in September. I made a few buttercakes & sandwiched them with buttercream until it resembled a large rectangular block. I then carved out the Nemo shape and, due to limited time, piped orange butter cream rosettes all over. The fins are modelling fondant and the shell shaped fins are fondant pressed into a madeleine tin and painted orange.

I made these fondant figures for a cake I'm doing this weekend. I tried doing chocolate candy melt transfers and it was too much of a pain. So I decided to do 3-D fondant figures and love the way they turned out! I have a caterpiller for the top that needs a bit of repair (head fell off). I'll post pictures of the finished cake this weekend.

Replica of X-Box console and controller with black buttercream and fondant. 3 layer devils food with cherry filling. This was my 2nd attempt...we didn't like the first one so we scraped it off and re-did it. Much better 2nd time! Thanks to trisha for her help on this one!

I made this for a friend's boyfriend's birthday. I used the basic instructions for the Frankenstein cake from the ACD email newsletter. The cake is chocolate pound cake III from this website, and it worked quite well for carving, even though it was a little crumbly. Anyway, I think he looks like a middle-aged geeky guy, but I suppose it takes all types to make zombies.=)

Yoda in the swamp is what I was going for. It didn't come out exactly as I hoped but do they ever. The only thing not edible is the 3 straws I used to stabilize the tree and yoda. Yoda and the tree are made out of a chocolate pound cake. I used the 3D duck pan. I know crazy. I used MM fondant and buttercream for my icing. It was lots of fun but I am glad this one is done.

Sheet cake cut and stacked. Red icing is canned strawberry with added red food color. Color was great, would not be stiff enough for any piping. Can't recall what I started with for the black. The black was Chefmaster liquid color.
Decorations are gumdrops, chiclets, m&ms, licorice.

This cake was just made to see if I could do it. I didn't have the proper colors or decorations etc. It was fun though. I can not believe how easy it was.

I used two 4" round cakes for the dome of the hat. I stacked them with buttercream inbetween. I rounded the edges. I then stacked them on top of an 8" cake single layer. I iced the whole thing with buttercream and then let it dry awhile and then used papertowels to put a little design in the icing. I then just piped some ugly stars around it.
