good job...want to try one sooo bad...really scared...
just need to experiment i suppose and get over the fear...
jss, the worse that can happen is it won't turn out as wel as expected. The best that can happen is that it will, either way you will learn something. And, you can always try again. You won't know until you try, now get buttercream tranferring, haha! We know you can do it! Just do one for fun, not for anything particular.

jss and jekizer,
I felt the same way until I had to due the Care Bear and the gel transfer wouldn't show on the icing (first time that ever happened) so I had to think of something else and remembered the fbct method.
Thank goodness I had read enough to get me through.
At first, I was scared to death that it would not come out but it did and can't wait to do another one.
Give it a try !!!
Can someone please tell me what FBCT means? I'm new at cake decorating and am interested in learning all I can. Also does anyone know how the bakeries make cakes with eatable photos?
Hi CSN,
Welcome to CC...you are going to really enjoy this site.
FBCT means frozen buttercream transfer. You trace out your picture onto wax paper and use the buttercream icing to fill in the areas.
The edible images are done with a special printer and edible ink to print out the picture onto a special sheet that you have to use.
jss,
Have fun and don't forget to take a picture.
I was going to use the turkey pan to do my Thanksgiving cake. I was going to stack that on a sheet cake but now I am going to try the fbct on the sheet...will save me from doing that second cake.
Thank you Stephanie for your prompt reply. Wow tracing with buttercream must not be that easy. I will give it a try someday soon. Thanks also for correcting me because I see I said eatable and it should be edible. I've never chatted before with anyone and this seems to be fun to have someone respond to your questions.
Does anyone know where I could get the special printer and ink for photo transfers on sheet cakes and how expensive they would be? Or do you think a bakery would do them for a fee?
CSN,
We all make mistakes...that's what CC is all about, helping each other out with questions an answers.
NO one really pays attention to word mistakes unless we really don't understand and need to have it cleared up to be able to try and help.
Get a copy of the picture that you want to do and then cover the picture with wax paper and then use permanent marker to trace pattern onto the wax paper.
After you trace the picture, flip the wax paper over and tape down onto the plexiglass (sorry, forgot to tell you that you need plexiglass to do this) and use medium consistency icing to outline the tracing and then use thin consistency icing to fill in your areas.
Go to the home page and look under "How To" and complete instructions is in there with pictures.
Hope I was able to help some without confusing you.
GREAT JOB!!! (...and BTW, I love how you made the "b's" look like musical staffs, a nice touch!)
Thanks once again Stephanie. No you didn't confuse me, I understood your instructions. I will do that.
CSN,
Good luck and please post pictures.
Forgot to tell you to use finger dipped in cornstarch or powdered sugar to smooth icing down. After your picture is finished, take buttercream icing to go over the entire area and use spatular or finger with a light touch to smooth down then put picture in freezer on the plexiglass until icing is frozen and then untape and flip over onto your picture.
You can tell that I'm new to this myself. lol...working on my third one.
