Hello-

I have been asked to do a cake for an "Event Planning" group's launch party in December. This will be the first time I've been asked to do something of this magnitude (needless to say I'm nervous). It is to feed approximately 100 ppl. Not sure what sizes pans I should use or just go with the 1/2 sheet or full sheet.

Here are the ideas I have so far (but it never hurts to have addtn'l help)

- Rocket (using the football pan)
- some orbits (mini ball or 1/2 of sports ball pan)
- some type of outerspace like candy molds
- Their colors are (Turquoise, pink and yellow)

I'm thinking I could use a sheet cake or 1/2 sheet and have the rocket on top of it (using a dowel), I could also have some small orbits in various areas of the 1/2 sheet. OR... thinking about doing a 1/2 sheet with a 2 layer 8 inch on top and maybe a rocket on top of that and orbits around the rest of the sheet (not too many though). OR... a sheet with a rocket on top and then have 3 stands surrounding the sheet w/ 2 layer 8 or 10inch cakes which would be decorated differently, but trying to stay within a "launch" type of theme.

Ok, now that I'm done rambling, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Not trying to be rude, but if they're event planners then they should have an idea of what kind of design they want. I'd ask them for specifics. Do they want tiered or sheet? Do they want a cake with their logo? Do they want elegant or more of a happy bday theme?

They have to give you some input. What if you do the rocket cake and they wanted simple design with elegant flowers? Press them for specifics and congrats on getting such a big gig!

Thank you. I should've been more clear. The event planners are actually the one's who gave me the "Launch" idea and mentioned a rocket, but that's all they said. They did give me their colors and an approximate head count.

So, I wanted to get as many ideas as possible (with the help of C.C.) and then draw a few options out and then they could have something to choose from. Or it could help them to give me a few other ideas for layouts. Once they confirm, I'll create the end result.

Thanks for your input, it was greatly appreciated. I just wasn't clear enough in what info I had vs. what I still needed. I will ask them about elegant or happy birthday type of layout. I will also ask about tiered or sheet.
