Thanks for all the info...this is a practice bouquet for the brides table.
What do I need to do to it?

I just thought it looked like it needed something.

Did you opt out for the yellow stamen in the centre in favour of the colouring? Is this what you mean? You could add a leaf spray if you want it to be more elaborate. Sometimes I add baby's breath, the real kind. Sorry, I am not sure what you are looking for. Calla lilies are rather stark, that is part of the reason that people that like more modern or minimalist decor, choose them.

The stamen is in there, but I didn't get a good picture of it. The bride wanted simple so I guess this works.

Looks good to me, yes, I think we are so used to all of the filler with roses and such, calla lilies takes some getting used to. I am sure she will love them!

I think they look great. My only suggestion is regarding the ribbon/bow. I would either wrap the ribbon around the stems and tie it off a little differently or use a ribbon that isn't so stiff. The sticky-outy bow seems a little at odds with the simplicity of the flowers.

I agree with alimonkey. The flowers are great, but the bow just doesn't quite "fit" with the flowers. You could try wrapping the stems with the ribbon, like alimonkey suggested, and then just tie them in a decorative knot (square knot?) at the top and let the ends of the ribbon lie flat or just "drape" along the stems...no bow. Maybe let the ends of the ribbon be something like 2/3 the length of the stems. Then you won't have that "naked" or "raw" stem look, but it's very simple, like the flowers. I always think that on a small boquet like that, if the stems are left uncovered it somehow looks unfinished or as if the bow were only an afterthought. And you could even try a plain ivory or white satin ribbon...then it might look a little more formal/dressy or whatever, but still very simple & classic. Please show us what you finally come up with!! thumbs_up.gif

I agree that the flowers looks awesome, very real, but the bow doesn't fit. I would suggest looking at some floral websites and see how they wrap their flowers.

I think it has something to do with the flow, you have this really pretty vertical peice of art and I think the wrapping needs to complement it vertically instead of sort of adding a horizontal line across it. Breaks up the flow.

Thank you all so much. The bride brought me the ribbon, she said to do what I wanted, but to use the ribbon. I think wrapping the stem with it sounds great, I didn't even think of that.
That's why I love this forum. Everyone is so great. icon_lol.gif
I think I am going to have at least one all nighter to do all the last minute things that need to be done and having to do the groom's snare drum cake, too.

I think they look great. I agree with Alimonkey about the bow. Maybe it would look better if the bow was a bit smaller. I'm not sure if the bride wanted the bow so that was just a suggestion in case she was the one that picked it out.

or you can make a few.."loops" with the bow and add them for filler. not tie it on..?

I think a simple white ribbon wrapped around the stem and then tied in a small bow would be perfect - simple but elegant.

Haha, well I assumed that the ribbon was the bride's choice and this is what she wanted. I agree, most people do wrap the ribbon or coil it around the stems. But this appears to be wired ribbon and though I dearly love wired ribbon, it is very difficult to get a tight coil with it, particularly when you are using it around a narrow stem.
