I use lollipop sticks(get them from a bulk food store) I usually put them in before baking but I have also stuck them to the back of the cookie after they are cooked. I just melted a few candy melts and it dries fast and is very stable.

you can buy cookie sticks or you can use wood dowels. be sure your cookies are thick enough to handle wht ever you stick in it.
I insert the handle when the cookies are finished cooking just to make the hole. then decorate and re insert when your done icon_smile.gif

I use various sizes of lollipop sticks. I've attached them both ways, but I prefer to attach them before baking. I usually roll my dough out a little thicker and twist them into the dough. I've found that the sticks stay put much better this way.

If I attach them after baking, I either use royal icing or candy melts.

The very best sticks are the stir sticks from Starbucks Coffehouse, they are flat and hold up weight great. Soak them in water before baking, this does two things, first it keeps the stick from burning, and second it provides the stickiness to keep the cookie attached. I always ask the cashier if I can pick up a handful when I purchase a latte, and never have had them say no. I grab a dozen or so each visit with their consent. Blessings on your baking, Shawn <><
