SSSHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!

I missed it! I have to find out when it will repeat....but I missed it for a good reason....does anybody watch "What not to Wear" on TLC? Well...I was hanging out with Stacy London tonight in Macy's Herald Square. She is sooo nice.

Gotta check out the listings now.....

I learned to carve a cake, freeze it. That was a great tip.

I loved the cannon cake but I think it was a little over the top with the fireworks!!! hahahaaa... The pastry chef/owner though was hilarious. I just adored him, he seemed really funny and like he enjoyed what he did for work.

I had to record the show because I'm in school during the time. As soon as I got home I watched it. I LOVE THE SHOW!! I knew I was going to like it as soon as the Food Network started showing previews for it!

Dang! I missed most of the first airing because DD wouldn't go to bed, then even though I was up doing fondant roses until 3 last night I forgot that it was on again and missed it. Maybe I'll catch it tonight, or at least by the end of the weekend icon_sad.gif

I didn't care too much for it, it just seemed like another show.

it had some fabulous tips, but nothing over the top...

the host was cute, but not enough passion for the subject..he was too laid back...or uninpressed?? I mean...if it had been someone with a little more personality, a few of the things would've made for great back and forth banter.

I guess I'm just partial to the way "GOOD EATS" flows..now that's a show that keeps me glued to the TV..

I guess that's what I mean, since TV is NOT my favorite medium..lol

that's just my opinion, I hope that I didn't get anyone upset...but the HOST IS BORING!..lol

and the host makes the SHOW!...sorry!

He is a cutie pie though! would like to brush HIM all over with choco...oops...that's not for THIS forum..hehehehe!

*Diva, alone with her EVIL thoughts..hehehe

Diva..I'm with you...I was very disappointed in the show.

I thought there would be more "meat" to it all.....more techniques.. that type of thing.

It seemed to be merely a venue to advertise businesses around the country.

Maybe it will get better with age?? lol...I dunno, the things that were explained were pretty basic...did they ever explain how to make the "cannon" cake? I got in to the viewing a little late..

Thats the reason I did not watch it. They made it look great in the previews. I agree with Diva though I like the Good Eats program thats where I learned my knife skills from good ol Alton B. There is just not really a good how to program on Food Network for the sugar artists. I will not watch a program if I can learn a new technique or something from it.

They showed the pvc pipe being cut that was the center of the cake....they cut the cakes in half and then cut the middles so they fit around the pvc pipe..then they iced and used fondant to cover. that was it.

There was no real "how to"..the host showed how to make his parfait..big deal...then they highlighted other bakeries.....showed some of the things they offer...no how to stuff...as I said..I think they are highlighting different businesses...maybe it will get better...but they have too much per segment,,,,not enough time in any one place for any in depth "instruction".

Did you know you can take a piece of 2 to 3 inch pvc 16 inches long and use it as rolling pin. No imperfections that is found in wooden rolling pins and not as expensive as a stainless steel one. Makes fondant and other sugar smooth as silk.

I was a bit disappointed by the show too. I was hoping they'd show different fancy desserts and more techniques as to how to create them. I agree that the host was a bit blah. I'm glad I taped it instead of staying up to watch it.

I think I confused IHATEFONDANT. What I was referring to was making a rolling pin out of pvc pipe. Sorry I got off the subject.

No Sugar, I don't think she's confused...she's telling you ....that she uses pvc pipe also...as you suggested.

I thought the show was cute. I saw the host on another show when they showed his bakery CAKE LOVE. He's definetly not the most polished host I've ever seen, but he is new, give the guy a break. icon_smile.gif Just my opinion.

icon_smile.gif Not polished...I agree..but I am still interested in watching it..
I will give it the benefit of the doubt !!! In my opinion I thought the cakes look sloppy.. but I will give it a try.. I am open minded about this..we'll see.. icon_biggrin.gif
