I have a customer who's daughter is having her 10th Birthday and wants me to make a cake. Only one problem is that she wants a picture of the singer Jesse McCartney on the cake!

This is a licensed picture for one, so the edible image thing is out. Do you think I could do a bct of his face?? Mom is not picky but daughter is insisting on this. Help, ideas?

Maybe you could cheat a bit --- print out a nice photo of him from the internet and have it laminated (or just cover it with clear packing tape or very well wrapped saran wrap) ... place it in the center of the cake and decorate around it .. then she has her cake and can keep the photo afterwards???

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, since the photo is in the public domain? Or if you're worried about that, make the cake and the decorations and have the customer put the picture on at the last minute?

Not sure how "legal" this all is -- just what I might do in your situation ..

Thats a really good idea about laminating the picture....I was looking at this picture I printed out from the internet and thinking......if I do it in a fbct it just wouldn't look right. I don't think doing a bct from a photo turns out real well, or at least I wouldn't think so.

But if I blew up the picture a bit, laminated it, and decorated around it like you said, that would be pretty easy. The cake colors are either to be pink and black or neon green and black. Kids I'll post a picture when I'm finished. It isn't due for another 2 weeks but I thought I better get a jump on this. Thanks for your suggestion

Yeah, Jesse McCartney is a cutie, but 10 is soo young. I don't remember having a crush at 10. Maybe I was a late bloomer

I like the idea about the laminated picture on the cake. But if you want something different, and I'm not sure how you could do this, but, kinda make stand up cut-outs of Jesse, the birthday girl & her friends...like if they're hanging out with him or something.....maybe someone more creative could finish my idea
