I'm going to attempt my first stacked cake. I have lots of questions before I start though!!!! Do you always use multiple 2" cakes stacked together and then frosted or would a 3" cake work if I don't need that thick of a layer (just wondering if the 2" cakes would provide a stronger base/more stability)? How large of a cake and how many layers make it necessary to use extra support? Are dowel rods difficult to use? Could someone give me the basics and some helpful tips???? Thanks so much!!!
