I realize this may be a very silly question, icon_razz.gif but I have never made a cookie bouquet and would like to. I realize I will make my sugar cookies, and I'm wanting to use that royal icing recipe that Antonia74 posted that I see everyone raving about, but...how do you get them to stand up? Do you just ice the stick to the back, or do you insert the stick???

Thanks for clearing this up in advance!!! thumbs_up.gif

You need to insert the stick into the cookie just before its done baking.
make them thick enough to hold a stick.

I insert the stick into the cookie before baking.. I know that other people just glue it onto the back of the cookie with melted chocolate or some insert into the cookie after the cookie is baked but still soft.. I like adding it to the cookie before baking.. I find it easier.. I stick it into the soft dough and sometimes pat a little extra cookie dough onto the back of the cookie to make sure the stick is completly covered.. So guess whatever works best for you.. Have fun making your cookie bouquet and post some pics so we can see them once you are done.. icon_smile.gif

When I make cookies for a bouquet I attach the stick to them using a bit of cookie dough. If the cookie is thicker you may be able to slightly push the dough up inside the side of it. It really is a trial and error thing!!

Whatever you do, DO NOT, pick up the cookie by the stick until it is completely cooled, while the cookie is still warm and soft the stick will come out easier, even then, I handle my cookie pops by the cookie and not the stick until it is completely decorated just so I dont take any chances. I don't bake the sticks in my cookies. Instead, when they first come out of the oven, I quickly (and carefully) insert the stick in the center of the cookie. By the time they cool completely, the sticks are "stuck" icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you so much for all of the advice!!! I guess everyone has their own particular way of doing it, and I'll have to find mine too, but I look forward to it!!! icon_biggrin.gif I'll post pics once I do one. It may be soon as a good friend of mine has just had a new baby (preemie).

Thanks again!!!
