Hi,
I just wanted to know, who has done a chocolate/lemon,(chocolate cake, with lemon mousse and a lemon buttercream) cake theme...and what your take on it is? Do the flavors clash? ...I have someone interested in a cake theme like the above mentioned , and Im just a little nervous..
Thanks
I have heard of a choc chip lemon cake... I understand the taste is devine, though I am like you wondering if I would be brave enough to try it.... I bet it would taste great...chocolate makes everything taste better..
I'm not convinced of the chocolate lemon combo, but I'll try anything once. Orange and chocolate, definitely goes better, I think.
'm'm'm... chocolate and lemon are terrific together! One of my most popular cakes is a lemon angel food cake enrobed in chocolate ganache, then iced in lemon cream cheese icing. One guy orders one per month for him and his mom.
I was making chocolate cake one day, and then went on to make the chocolate buttercream. I had some leftover icing in the fridge, but forgot that it was lemon buttercream. Added the cocoa... mixed in everything else.... OMG! It was aweful. To me, the lemon and chocolate was sooooo gross. But..... maybe you will like it. Good luck!

Maybe it was awful because 1) you weren't expecting it , and 2) it was the two flavors 'when blended together' into the icing that you didn't like... as opposed to a cake being flavored with one, and icing flavored with the other.
I tend to not multi-flavor separate dessert elements. That way, if somebody doesn't like one of the flavors, at least they can scrape it off or push it aside and not have to eat it.
When in doubt, experiment with cupcakes.
