Is there a way to put marzipan in a mold and have it come out? the first time I tried, I ended up picking it out because it wouldn't come out. Then I used crisco in the mold and it still wont come out. So I put it in the freezer and I still can't get it out! icon_mad.gif

I am not a very happy camper, maybe I am doing something wrong? icon_cry.gif

Any help would be appreciated.

I have never done Marizipan, but I found this site that tells you something about it, and it mentions molding...maybe it will answer your question somewhere...

This may or may not work for you but I will post it anyway. Line your mold with plastic wrap. The marzipan will not stick to it. You might also try and lightly dust the mold with powdered sugar if you do not want to use the plastic wrap. When I do cast sugar pieces I use foil and lightly grease it with vegetable oil it makes the piece come out a lot easier.

Thanks for all of your help....I ended up - freezing then picking it out with a knife and then smoothing it out with my fingers, not the most efficient way...but I got it out. Since marzipan is so soft and oily I guess putting them in molds isn't the best thing to do. Next time, I will try plastic wrap, that may work better.

Thanks again.

A few weeks ago I was playing around with gumpaste and marzipan in some new (soft rubber) push molds that I'd picked up in the modeling clay aisle at either Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

For the baby mold, I (lightly) brushed the mold with crisco, then filled it with gumpaste for the body and marzipan for the head and hands. Froze it for about 5-10 minutes... no problem, it popped right out.

Maybe that is the thing...this mold was the hard plastic...maybe if it was the soft mold I would have had better luck.... I will keep this in mind for my future purchases!!

Thanks everyone!
