The volkswagon cake and the cross cake are my first real customer cakes. I would really appreciate some input. Tips on how to improve are welcomed.

Thanks to all, Melony

Melony, both of your cakes look wonderful. I was just wondering if the cross is made with the Wilton pan, it doesn't really look like it, the edges are nice and sharp! Janice

Thank you to everyone for all the encouraging comments.

Janice you are right it is not the cross pan. I used the 1/2 sheet pan and cut in two halves to make the cross shape.

Thank you Mayra, the paper towel imprint is done the same way you would do the VIVA smoothing method. Very simple actually.

I know this might sound silly, but I am new at all of this. How do you do the Viva smoothing method?

Thanks, I'm really proud and I'm already thinking of how and where i can Improve.

Mayra, I let my icing sit for about 15 minutes and then I smooth it with the papertowel rubbing it lightly with my hands. This has always worked well for me! But it has to be crusting buttercream.

Good Luck
