WELCOME TO OUR ADDICTION!!!!!!!!! I just use a couple of tablespoons of lemon extract.. Put it in a small bowl, then with a small paint brush I dip the brush into the extract then into the luster dust.. Then keep this going until I get it how I want it.. TIP: Extract evaporates fast
some here say they use vodka.. Not sure, but maybe someone else can help you on the vodka thing..

icon_smile.gif I do it a few different ways:

1) you can make a paint out of Super Pearl Dust and Almond Extract, then just paint the pearls...

2) you can paint the Pearls with Almond Extract or Vodka, let it dry a little but not completely dry, then with a tiny paint bush dust the pearls with dry luster dust, that way the Pearl Dust will stick to the damp pearls. but you have to keep going back and forth until it shines.

Let us know how it comes out. a photo would be nice.
good luck

Are you using a pearl mold?? I use a mold and I brush some pearl dust into the mold and put my fondant in..Stick in in the freezer for a couple minutes and pop the pearls out. Sometimes I'll brush some more pearl dust on them if they aren't coated evenly. You could also make the pearls and then just brush some pearl dust on them when they come out of the mold. I don't use any extract..Just dry brush!!

Hi, joyfoster429!

What I do is take some clear alcohol (vodka or gin), add some luster dust, mix well and paint on them. I keep doing this until I get the desire sheen. It`s very easy!!

Good luck!! thumbs_up.gif

Bye!

I am a newbie here, I just started using Luster dust...gosh, where has it been all my life? I have done cakes for 31 years, and I feel like I just fell in love all over again, or at least catching up in this century! I did pearl luster dust on my candy seashells last night, and they lQQked amazing!

Where do you guys get luster dust from. I have yet to find it at Michaels. Will I have to go to a cake supply store??? I would love to try it...

Plus, how do you all like using the bead mold as compared to shaping balls and putting them together. In ease of use, looks, etc.
