Hi everyone, I just had my first paying cake order this past weekend. I haven't posted them yet but I will soon. I was just wondering if everyone could share with us what they charge for sheet cakes and rounds. I would like to get an idea of what cakes are going for everywhere.
Thanks, Melony
Hi, I am in the south east and I charge for my cakes, first by the complexity, ingredients and size. A 2 - layer plain cake (caramel, chocolate, etc, with a border top and bottom and maybe a rose or two) sells for about $20.00-$22.00. The three layer for $25.00.
A decorated (heavily decorated) to feed 20-25 people ($30.00) 30-50 ($40.00) 100 + ($75.00 to $110.00) Wedding cakes $2.00 a slice. Decorated made flowers $3.00 per slice.
cricket...cricket...lol
Just kidding! I totally have no clue what to yell you so.....hi.
Wish I could be of any help, sorry.
Here's what i'm getting (i'm upstate NY)
12x18 $50
11x15 $40
9x13 $30
7x11 $20
I don't do too many plain rounds, but i start a 8inch layer cake at $25
wedding cakes are priced according to design. Average per slice is $3
I have called around in Central Florida and the basic price for a 1/4 sheet cake (9 x 13") starts at $25.00. It goes up depending on the complexity. I can't remember how much for a 1/2 sheet but I guess it would be about $40.00.
I've only done a few...but here in Brooklyn, I'm charging $4.00 per serving....so far....
Wow that's great. I don't think I could get away with those kind of prices . I would love to though, LOL
Hey there! I'm charging approximately $2 per serving on a basic smooth finish iced two layer cake with the same frosting filling and minor decorations. Anything else (ex basketweave, fancy flavors, etc.) I will up the price.
if you look at my pics i have charged $20.00 to $45.00 for my cakes.
minnie mouse $20.00 with ribbion will charge $5.00 more
football $20.00 $25.00 for filling
wedding cake $40.00
2 tier cake $45.00
4 mini bear and
spider man $40.00 under charged for that one
if they buy 2 at a time i will take off $5.00 which i will not do anymore
hope this helps
My job asked me to make a cake she wanted to go down to $35.00 i stood firm at $40.00
I always add up the cost of my ingredients, and call around to a few bakeries to make sure my prices are fair. This is what I've come up with....
8" round = 25$
10" round = 35$
9x13 = 30$
11x15 = 40$
full sheet (2 11x15's) = 80$ (this is when I lived in southern LA)
I live in Vancouver, B.C. now, and my prices are approx. 10$ more now.

As you can..prices will vary based on the area. To work up your own prices try adding up everything it takes to make, deorate and box your cake and then times it by 3...it will give you a good starting point and then adjust accordingly
I charge $25 as a base price and it goes up from there depending on how difficult (or time) the cake is. For wedding cakes, I start at $1.25 a slice (simple decorations) and again raise the price for more difficult cakes. HTH

I am just starting out too and I did a internet search for local cake designers, bakeries, and pastry shops so I would know what was being charged in my area. Most had websites and some listed their prices, those who didn't I called (and had other people call) as if I were price shopping for a particular cake. I am using the information I gathered to come up with my pricing. I am creating my prices between the high end cake designers (because I'm not that good yet) and the bakeries and pastry shops (because my designs are more creative and unique than what you find in a regular bakery).
Hope this helps...
