Okay the Grambling cake that i did a few mths ago has really taken off in the last couple weeks I have about 8 1/2 sheet orders and than I got a call that one of the coaches saw the cake and wants 3 full sheets for the Bayue Classic. I just called the Dept of small business and he did not think I needed a liscence since I am not opening up a bakery but I am still checking into that to cover myself, however I have been checking to make sure I will not get into trouble making this cake with an emblem. I need to know what you think and also I charge $30.00 for my 1/2 sheet 11x15 I have never done a full sheet from home it will be two 11x15 tgether should I charge $60.00? Please any input is appreciated.

Wow, how exciting that you got that many orders I wish I could help with the pricing, but I haven't charged anyone yet. I would suggest calling a local bakery and asking what they charge for a full sheet cake. Then you'll know how close to target you are.

Well, the rules will vary according to where you live. However, in a lot of places, you can make things like this as long as you are not advertising and doing it on a regular basis and as long as there are no public health code reasons that could deter you. Regarding the emblem, that may get you in trouble if it is a protected emblem, so you might want to look into that.
If you are happy with that price than go for it. I would think that when you are making a customized cake with an emblem, you could up your prices, but that is for you to decide. You might want to consider going up by $20 or so for the total.

Congratulations on your cake orders...my full sheet cakes start at $65.00...I charge more according to design difficulty, how many colors are used, etc. You should charge what you are comfortable with. Good luck!
