Roland Winbeckler is an amazing artist in so many ways! I had the opportunity to go demos put on by both him and his wife (separate ones) at the ICES convention in 2005. They are both amazing, but his full-size, life-like cakes are just incredible!

I came across his site a few months back. His work is truly amazing. Did you see the other cakes? Cher, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, etc.?

He was absolutely amazing. I think the demo I went to with him was on how to make BC characters and he just floored me on how quickly he can make a blob of icing look so cool! In a matter of minutes he was just pumping out so many different things. I actually had more fun in his demo than Colette's. icon_surprised.gif He also had photo albums out of all the lif-like cakes that he did, along with his airbrushed cakes. The man has talent all around! icon_biggrin.gif I would also love to actually participate in the classes that he offers, but he is all the way over in California and being in NY, that is a little difficult. icon_cry.gif

Wow Missy! That must have been so cool to meet him! I'd love to watch him make a sculpture. I have his book on 3D sculptures. I have tried his method of smoothing BC with a paintbrush and hot water but mine doesn't come out anywhere near as smooth as his. You can't even see the brush strokes on his work!
