I need some ideas on this one. I kinda want to do a nativity scene that stands up on the cake. But maybe each character be a cookie that I can stand up on the cake. Of course, I guess I could do royal icing characters on lollypop sticks that would be inserted into the cake. I just really need some pics to look at. Anyone know where I could find something like that?
I did a nativity cake of sorts...not a stand-up one which sounds like a fabulous idea. It's in my photos. I've also seen 3D nativity scene chocolate molds. That might be something to try. I think I saw them at Candyland Crafts or Sugarcraft.
Yeah, I saw that yesterday and saved it in my favorites! Loved it! I will probably copy you if I can't get the details together for a 3-D one. That is if you don't mind!
Lisa, btw, if KayDay has a DOS up in Decatur, AL in January, would you be interested in coming down? You aren't that far from her!!

Of course I don't mind. I still have the template I used if you need it.
I'll keep the DOS in mind. Sounds like fun.
Lisa, forgot to ask this. I have problems getting my icing to color completely on the darker colors. It seems as though my icing will break down and it really becomes speckled even though I've mixed it for many many minutes. I've read about the salt causing that and I know noone really can't put their finger on the real culprit. So what recipe did you use for that cake?
Have you seen the nativity scene in the 2005 wilton yearbook???
They are made from the mini wonder molds.. I just took the picture from the book, but I don't know how to resize it.. I tried to load it, but it said it is to big..
This is the recipe I use...

Thanks, briansbaker! I'll look in my yearbook tonight when I get home! I've looked at that thing a hundred times and I don't remember one like that. Thanks again!!
