Buttercream Icing Made With Butter And Crisco - Crusting?

I need to get a smooth finish on my cakes (faux fondant). Will the buttercream icing made with butter and crisco crust over so that I can do the paper towel thing?

Yes it will. The crusting is a result of the ratio of sugar to fat, so it doesn't matter what fat you use.
