Bambi's Revenge - Hunting Cake
Decorating By SquirrellyCakes Updated 20 Oct 2005 , 3:54pm by SquirrellyCakes
Heehee, sometimes I have way too much fun with cakes. This was one, for a hunter, hard cake for me to make because hunting is not my thing. I am more apt to rescue critters, they are all so darn cute. Anyway, the theme was hunting, they weren't specific. Always thought Bambi was way too innocent, hhmn, holding that rifle, Bambi looks a bit like Mel Gibson don't you think? A new pal of mine, Ms. Original sent me a picture of Elmer Fudd, and I used a slant on Labrat's idea of the deer hunting the human and Froggy sent me some coloured pictures, so it was a joint effort coming up with the idea and subject. I messed up and forgot the red in Elmer's hat, haha, wondered why that container of red icing looked untouched, duh...
Anyway, just had to share this for a laugh.

I am laughing myself silly....what a great turn on the "hunting cake"
Love it and going to show it to all the hunters in my family!
I don't care for hunting either, but I love that cake. It is so funny! Looking forward to seeing another of your cakes
Love it! What's it say on the side?
It says Bonne Fete Papa which means, Happy Birthday Papa. Birthday in French is actually more properly "Anniversaire" which is also used for anniversary. But the more familar term that children would use or the less formal term is "Fete" (with an accent over the first "e" like this "^"). "Fete" actually means holiday or celebration and is often used for the "saint's day" which is what Catholic French Canadians used to be named after.
Heehee, aren't you sorry you asked?

Heehee, thanks everyone, it was fun for me. I always wanted to do something like this.
Reminds me of another image I carry in my head, whenever I visit a zoo. The large zoo in Toronto has a train that you can take through the huge property. I often think of the scene in reverse with the animals being on the train looking at the people in the enclosures and cages and fenced in areas.
Heehee, if I ever get to do a cake for a trapper, I am thinking of a tiger carrying the pelt of a human being, or a human head with a baseball hat, hung on a plaque on a wall above a fireplace with the bears and moose and deer toasting their hoofs in front of a fire, sipping beer.
Ok, I am warped, haha!

You did a Great Job on this Cake.. Thanks for Sharing, You sound like me with the critters. But Hubby Hunts and we both Fish..hahaa, I got mad at the cats this morning, they caught one of my critters and I was chasing them all over the yard trying to make her let go and trying to save my critter, my mind was saying you know its not going to make it if you get it, but my heart wanted to try anyway.. hahaha.. then I got chased by the critter, it was a SIGHT I am sure my neighbors thought I had been drinking.. hahaha.
another good cake idea would be to have a Bass sitting in a boat & having hooked a human! how cute would that be?
~Sweet~ =0)

Heehee, thanks Egotrip! I have had to make several cakes recently that I was not keen on the designs of, so this was a treat for me. I have discovered that when I don't like the design, I don't get a lot of pleasure out of making a cake.
