OK...next Friday I have a retirement/leaving cake to do.
I'm making 2 12x15 sheet cakes and putting them together side by side...now.... what I need is what to do for funky and fun...the cake is for the retiring of the band director (a man)...and the majorette instructor...(a woman, but she will still be a teacher at the school..not leaving like the band director).. our colors are Kelly green, white, and black....
My son's girlfriend is co-captain of the majorette squad, and she suggested they buy their cake from me.... "HELP!!!" What is funky and fun to decorate??????
Any and all suggestions will be of great help....
Thank you....

I not really good with decorating ideas but will give it a shot...here goes

How about making a hand out on fondant holding a conductor's stick.

For the majorette maybe a pair of boots with a tassel and a baton stick.

Add some instruments and some confetti.

Hope this helps some.

Now you can see why I have to ask for help from CC most of the time...no creative mind. lol

Can't wait to see your cake.

Ok do the majorettes wear boots? You could do a 3d boot cake. And put a Kelly Green tassle hanging from the top front, like majorette boots have. (I was a majorette 4 years, and drum major.) Then use MMF to make two batons crossed in front of the boot. I saw a post in the forums where someone had the directions on how to do a boot-shaped cake. The boot and batons could stand up on one corner of one sheet cake. Then on the opposite corner of the other sheet cake, you can put a music stand (made from black MMF) and a conductor's wand. It would be cute!

Our majorettes wear white sneakers with silver sequenced ankel thingys....
I might just get some photos from way back when the band director started up to a group shot of the whole band today, and make a collage on the whole top of the cake....then put ...Thanks for the Memories on it...and do the cake in white trimmed in kelly green and black....
What do you all think about this idea?

Cakegal! OK....this is my area!!! LOL My hubby is a former band director and my daughter is a baton twirler. I will send you a PM with some artwork that might help you. I have two clips of baton twirler silouettes. These are the modern versions of "majorettes".....LOL I WAS A MAJORETTE....my kid is a baton twirler. Times have changed!!!! I might cut the silouette from fondant in a bright green for fun. You could make the baton silver with the luster dust stuff (haven't used that...), and put white fondant ends on it???? Also....what about using rolled fondant for cutting out a music staff, Treble Clef, notes.........

Okay, I would suggest stacking the cakes, not side-by-side. Then I would make a whole series of marching band & majorette figures in green/black uniforms(3-d from fondant, flat from fondant, flat piped or colour-flow... the choices are endless) to "march" around the sides of the cake. Top it with a fondant baton or similar and write ... okay, here's where my brain goes flat... MARCH ON maybe?
