I made some dark blue buttercream for a stupid blue horseshoe cake for a customer. Everything went swimmingly. Until I put the stupid silver rivets on the thing, then the silver dust decided to run all over my cake making little silver splotches. So I had to pick them off and fix the frosting. I patched with some of the leftover blue frosting and THEY DON'T MATCH
Grr...
I'll attatch a pic so you can see. It's not far off, but DH doesn't like it, I'm charging her $55 for this cake plus the football posted a few secs ago. I don't know what to do! It's the SAME frosting!!! From the SAME jar! I didn't add or subtract ANYTHING!!! I've let it sit, hoping it would deepen, but NO!!
Now what???
Are other people even going to notice? Take a few steps back and look at it, in the pic of the whole cake I don't really see anything it's only in the close ups.
I know that I see every flaw in my cakes but other people don't.
Bless you both. I was going to snatch myself bald. I think the one picture shows it pretty well, and if you guys don't see anything wrong with it, I'm going to quit messing with it, before I screw it up in a profoundly noticeable fashion.
Have a good night, ladies and gents. Going to pour myself a blackberry brandy and put my feet up.
Can you fix it with an airbrush? If you airbrush over the spots once, then go over the whole cake once, it may work.

Your cake looks fine and you did a great job! Remember we as bakers are our worst critic because we know where all the flaws, but once the client and guests see the cake the love it.
I agree.... it looks great. You can not tell unless you are closley inspecting it. Don't worry
i think it looks fine.....
if it still bothered me, i'd hit it with an airbrush like was said earlier.
i really don't think anyone will notice....
Anyone who gets close enough to notice that should be treated to a really up close view . I'm sorry. I'm going to go finish eating my brownie now.
Cheeseball -
I can just see you pushing someone's head into that cake for a close-up!LOL!
Theresa
Can you sprinkle a little edible glitter on it? that is what I do when I am being my own worst critic. Makes it harder to see the SLIGHT imperfections that probably only I notice and it is sparkly. I like sparkly he he
I really don't think anyone will notice - I really could hardly tell and as a Virgo, it's in my nature to be hypercritical perfectionist (hence me finding fault with every cake I do!) lol! I think it looks fine and chances are the colours will even out over a few hours any way!
Blue, along with other colors, have a tendency to do that discoloration thinggy. But as said before, we are our worst critics, it looks just fine to me. The customer WILL be satisfied. I think it looks great. Great job!! Nice and smooth and the silver is the added touch that brings the horseshoe out. Blue does it to me everytime...
I had to look hard to see what you were talking about and I'm still not sure I'm seeing it.
I really don't think anyone is going to notice.
It looks great. It doesn't look like you messed up even though the colors might be a little mixed. People either won't notice or ask how you got the cool mixed colors!
Well, I finally delivered the cake. They were so excited when they saw it. So I guess I was getting all worked up over nothing.
Thanks, everyone. If it weren't for the great people on cc, I'd almost certainly be on meds by now! (being a pharmacist, I know what all the good ones are.... )
Can't even notice. I wouldn't worry about others seeing it because as soon as the first person takes a bite and their mouth is blue, blue, blue no body will look at the cake again
