Quick Answer Needed Re: Mmf -- How Long Can It Be Stored?

Hey everyone!!
I hope someone here can help me!! I am in the middle of making a batch of MMF (for the first time -- I hope this works!!) and just realized that I don't have my rolling pin! I forgot I loaned it to my brother and didn't get it back! SO i can't roll it out tonight to cover the cake!
Once it is wrapped in the saran wrap, how long will it hold for? Can I put the wrapped "package" into a tightly sealed storage container to use tomorrow? Or am I going to have to just throw out the batch i'm working on??
Thanks for any advice you can give me!! I'm sure someone here has the answers!!
Jay
Not to worry, it will keep for at least a couple of weeks without refrigeration! I don't know that I would wrap it in saran, just put it in an air tight container. Janice
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JANICE!!!
I was so hoping I wouldn't have to throw this out!! I mean -- depending on how it comes out, I may have to, but at least it wont be for lack of trying!
I have it in the saran wrap right now since I just made it a little while ago and per the directions, its wrapped up cooling. I'll take it out in a while and put it in a container!
You are a life saver!!
Out of curiosity -- if the fondant was sticking to the sides of the KA bowl, does that mean that I needed more shortening on the sides? Or is that the way its supposed to be?
Thanks again!!
Greasing the mixing bowl is probably a good idea but I wouldn't want to add too much shortening. I just usually forget to do it! The fondant is just extremely sticky! Seems like I may have been skipping the wrapping in saran too!
MMF keeps for so long, I just threw out a small bit left from over a month ago...it still tasted fine, but was pretty stiff and dried out from me taking out a little at a time to use.
I'm glad you don't have to throw it out too! Janice
I made some MMF several months ago and wrapped it in Saran. I have been using little pieces here and there. It did crust a little bit but I put it in the microwave oven for a few seconds, still wrapped in the Saran, greased my hands and kneaded it for a few minutes. It came back to life with no problem. I also wasn't that fond of the flavor so I added some flavoring that would make it taste better after I nuked it and it was still ok.
I hope this information helped.
