okay, i've never had a ka, but i have a GE and i love it. it was only $100.00 and well worth it. if i had more money i wouldve gotten the ka because i've heard so much about them. so, it depends on your budget. my GE does really well with royal icing, and buttercream icing. havent tried mmf because i didnt want to chance tearing it up.
good luck

I have not had a ge but I have had others like it and I have to say I prefer my KA... Nothing in my opinion can compare - Worth the money.

I have a ge that I use for royal icing, as I don't really make big batches of that. I also use it for my regular household stuff. I use my ka for making cakes, buttercream, all other icings, etc. The ka is also good for canning, I have the attachments for making tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce, and apple sauce as well. I used to use it to make bread dough also, but now I have a breadmaker.

Never had either one. But I hope after the first of the year I will have a nice shiny black KA. Sorry black is my favorite color.

My black one is really great looking, but sure does show every speck of powdered sugar, flour, cake mix, you know, everything that we use mixing cakes!

Wouldn't take anything for it though! Janice

If you can afford to spend the money to get a KA mixer go for it. If not, try to get a mixer that has a similar amount of Watts ( W) as the KA you are going for. The higher the wattage the more power the mixer has. Also the capacity is important.

Not sure I've honestly seen a GE so I don't want to compare. I did have a basic standmixer that didn't last long against my abuse so I came across a great deal on a KA and went for it. LOVE IT! Now I have two. I'm known as a tighty so both were AWESOME deals!

MrsMissey, I feel your pain. Us lefties have to stick together! I have to ask because nobody gets this, do you have a hard time screwing things on or off? My husband is always yelling right to tight, left to loose, but somehow my "left turn" is considered his "right turn" does that make sense to you or am I just weird as he says I am?!

Hi, there is no big diff in mixers...it's the power of the motor.

Look at the specs on the mixer you'd like to have and go shopping.

Compare the motors, then compare the price. You may be able to find something just as good and it's an off brand.
