I want to make sugar cookies and send them to family in other states. Since the recipe has milk in it will it keep from going bad if not refrigerated? How long will they stay fresh?

Thanks for your help!

I have made this recipe but I don't really have an answer for you. Sorry!

I think the cookies were still fine at least 3-4 days later if that helps though.

You would send them priority mail? I think it has enough sugar in it that you don't have to worry about the milk. Maybe someone can answer for sure though.

I'm not sure what Tobas recipe is but I use a sugar glaze that has no milk and I have sent them in the mail and they arrived just fine..
The recipe is
2 cups icing sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon corn syrup
almond extract or vanilla to taste
Mix all together with a spoon, colour as needed.. Adjust the thickness by either adding more icing or water.. Pretty easy and ecnomical and it tastes great.. It hardens enough that you can stack the cookies but doesnt get as hard as royal icing.Stays nice and shiny too.
