Hello All,

I was just sitting here looking over my price list since I see a lot of people on here are having problems with pricing their cakes. But right now, I'm confused on how I should charge for extras like buttercream roses. How much do you all charge for roses? I don't work with fondant so thats not an issue. Oh...and how much do you charge to add characters on your cakes? Thanks so much for any responses I get!!! - Kenya usaribbon.gif

My base cakes include buttercream flowers. It's the fondant that I charge extra for.

I don't normally work with fondant either but my base price includes what I call basic decorations. Anything over and above is extra. I usually base it on the request. I wouldn't recommend you doing some charge per rose or anything like that (not BC roses). Good luck!

Go to some bakeries or grocery stores that make cakes. See what they are charging. That should give you some idea what you should be charging.

I go over with them what they want and price accordingly.

Since I am TERRIBLE at making flowers...I do not charge extra for that. I charge by cake size and charge extra for fondant or more difficult designs. I also charge extra for fillings in the cake.
