Not Quite A Disaster, But Still Funny

My oven came with our house and it only had one rack in it. No big deal. It's always done great with the cakes I've done. But since I'm getting more cake jobs, I thought I'd get another rack to be a little more efficient. Anyway, I just found out my oven is so old - THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE REPLACEMENT RACKS FOR IT ANYMORE!!
Try a second hand appliance store or the goodwill. My mom's oven was very old too but found out her neighbor was getting a new oven and gave her the racks since the ovens were the same size.
If all else fails, try a smaller rack that is oven safe and use bricks to hold it up. I know it sounds hokey but you gotta imagine the bricks act like a pizza stone and actually help with the oven temp. THis, of course, will only work with a gas oven b/c electric ovens have the lower heating element that would get ruined probably by the bricks if not careful.
DISCLAIMER: This is *ONLY* a suggestion. Never mutilate your oven unless you are a trained professional or have desires for purchasing a new oven.
Thanks for posting this topic!! I have EXACTLY the same situation and I has been driving me crazy!
I figured I had to protect myself before some baker went and ruined their oven and a spouse came after me.
