I have an order for a cake to feed 200 - they want a sheet type cake, not a lot of flowers and its for a musical organization so they'd like something like musical notes....any ideas or pics to share?

I did a piano cake 2 years ago for a company that produces films about musicians.

They needed it to feed 125 people, so it had to be based on a large slab cake....

It was all covered in fondant, which was too tricky in one huge sheet, so I cheated and made it striped...they loved it!!

The board is done in fondant checkers, just to add a bit of colour. The "banners" are white fondant inscribed with dark brown royal icing writing.

How about a rectangle cake, and it looks like a music sheet? You could do it with a BCT I'm sure.. Or how about piano keys as the cake?

i don't have a pic, but i made notes out of black royal icing once and put them on a cake. you could use the previous idea of making it look like a sheet of music, and maybe arrange the notes to make a real tune.

Thanks for the suggestions....this is going to probably cause me to pull my hair out, but here's my game plan. I'm open to lots and lots of help with executing this plan though. This cake is for a large southern gospel quartet convention, so I'm going to make the large sheet cake, plain white buttercream icing with simple shell border and some fondant music notes scattered here and there. Then I'm going to (with hubby's help) build a small stage, cover the floor of it with fondant planks to resemble hardwood floor, scupt a couple of old fashioned microphones on stands and an upright piano and add a banner with their convention name as if the stage is ready for the performers. Then we are going to carve out of styrofoam block an old fashioned tour bus with the members of the quartet (head's only) visible through the windows as they are "pulling up to the stage". I know this is going to be a challenge, but if I can pull it off I should be set for many orders to come from this convention and its members.
