Can anyone help me with this....I've seen some of the corset cakes in the galleries and they are awesome...I want to make one for my brother's 18th birthday which happens to be on Halloween...Can anyone help me? Is there a pattern or template that I can use? How do I get the shape of a woman? Any help is greatly appreciated....Thanks for taking the time to read this.

What kind of corset cake did you want to make? One of a full torso or more like a bustier?

I did a torso cake with a red dress however it would have been just as easy to do the corset (it's in my photos). It was an 11X15 sheet cake that I cut away the waist at the sides and contoured the top. The bust was made with cut-down cakes out of the mini-wondermold pan so they were more elongated as opposed to round. A lot of others have used the mini-ball pan for the same purpose. All of it was iced in buttercream. I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult that it was however I was pleasantly surprised.

thanks for your response...yours is very nice...that is kinda what I'm wanting to make....The shape is definately what I'm looking to make...so, you just cut the sides and shaped it freehand...with the bustline as well...

Yeppers! The bust was also easy as I used the buttercream to add even more contour to them and then used the paper towel method to smooth it out. When that was done I then put the icing on for the dress. There is a beautiful pink one (or is it 2?) in the gallery and it looks like they did pretty much the same thing only they smoothed it all out with buttercream 'lace' accents put on afterwards.

You'll do great and they are so much fun too!

I've done bikini cakes using hearts. Take two hearts, put them point to point and trim them until they match and take on the shape you want. You can do the same size hearts of you can do a larger heart on top and a smaller one on bottom, to create different body shapes.
