Ok, so I read the black icing thread, and tried some choccy sugarpaste tonight, which is a work in progress for useability...but I want it black...penguin black.
I tried with some wilton black paste, and it looks greenish grey.
Should I just heap in the coloring? Will the chocolate still help with the color? It tastes nice, just isn't black yet. I don't want to color this sample until I make the proper choccy fondant tomorrow..if it's the same as the sample I will put it all together.
Coloring jsut the white fondant black worked, but took a lot of coloring..
will the black "develop" like red apparently does?
I don't think it works the same with fondant .. I haven't noticed my fondant darkening any once tinted.. I would think it will take a lot of Wilton black to get the color you're wanting to achieve.. if you had americolor available in any stores around you, I'd suggest getting that.
I've always gotten a purple color with Wilton, greenish with Americolor. At any rate, if you add a little purple in, it should at least make it dark gray, if not black. I hate coloring black fondant. It's the pits.
I got a decent black on the plain white fondant, but thot I would improve the taste this way...I'm glad I did a trial of it!
I'll look around for the other type of color.
I bought some wilton fondant that is already colored black. I haven't tried it yet, so don't know how it will look.
I got it with my 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby last week.
I will go tomorrow and see what I can find for my 50% coupon
