I Have A Job Interview With Krogers Tomorrow!
Decorating By mrsright41401 Updated 4 Feb 2007 , 2:48am by gmcakes
I applied for a PT Cake Decorator job at Krogers and just got a call that they want to interview me tomorrow at 8 AM! I am SO nervous! I know that it won't be the same thing as doing my custom cakes, but I want to add some income to my family and it would give me some experience working in a high traffic bakery!
Any ideas on what I should expect?
Rachel
Rachel, don't know what you're to expect, but I want to wish you the best!!

Rachel,
Your cakes are very good and Krogers should be honored to have you work for them. Good luck!

good luck - can't wait to hear how it goes. A decorator job came up at a grocery store about 25 miles away or so and I'm seriously thinking about applying. It's almost unheard of around here! I hope you nail the job!
Thank you everyone!
With so many well wishers I don't think there is anything can do but succeed!
I love my CC family!
Rachel
don't be nervous...
they'll most likely have you decorate a cake.
every place i applied they had me do one.
you'll prolly be hired, cake decorators are hard to find....they usually expect you to work every saturday...
i've worked at several....and i am glad for the experiance....you will build so much speed!
let us know how it goes!
I just thought I would give you a heads up, when I interviewed for a position at a local store, I had to actually decorate a cake. Best of luck...you will do great, but be prepared for anything!
Hi I work at Stop and Shop, basically Kroger of the Northeast. I didn't have to decorate a cake for my interview, because I worked for the store and was sent to training classes.
My advise to you is if you have to decorate a cake, keep it simple, just follow their directions. Don't go crazy to have it be perfectly smooth just ice it, and decorate it simply. They are looking for speed. Your job is to make as many decent cakes as possible as quick as possible. That's why I love making custom cakes on my days off. Good luck it's a fun job especially at the holidays when you make your own designs.
I am just in shock. I walked in and was hired on the spot. I didn't have to do anything, other than answer the question: "Do you swear you can do cakes?"
YAY!
I'm going back at 10 for the drug test and I'm going to ask some questions,.
Rachel
Congrats!!!!!! I was reaading where working at a bakery helps with speed, boy do I need that I tend to take my good ole time and that's not productive......................have fun.
Congratulations for your new job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking at your cakes I didn't think U needed to worry at all!
U guy went school to make cakes like those or all of U are self-taught?
I'm just a beginner and I can just only hope some day I'll be as good as U guys!
Congratulations again!
Val
Thank you everyone! I am so excited! They recently just started doing buttercream hydrangea and magnolias as well as roses! YAY! They also recently started torting & filling cakes with buttercream. YAY!
I still have to get some details, but I am really excited. The speed and experience will be invaluable to me in the future and the money, however much it is, will be a big blessing to my family right now. I feel so incredibly blessed.
Rachel
Congrats on the job. I've worked in a store bakery a few times and it really helps to get that sort of training. You can learn so much that you didn't know before and prefect technices. I"m sure you'll do fine and I hope you enjoy your job. ^^v
