I think you have a lot to offer, you shouldn't leave FOR ANY REASON.

Where else are you going to talk sugar and with who?

I know that in your search for sugar knowledge you may or may not be omitting information due to the fact that you are still gathering the knowledge yourself. Like I keep telling you, there is NO shame in that!

But, what irks me is when I myself get a recipe with vague instructions and have no way to clear things up and have to keep coming back and forth, wasting time.

If someone asks me something that I don't know, I have no shame is admitting it and if it's something that interests me I will research it and come back and share the information.

I have told you that for being self taught on the SUGAR thing, you have come so very far.

I suggest that you continue your interest, as it's a worth while interest and don't decide to leave just yet.

Sorry to see you leave. Mind me asking, why? This place is a great resource for beginners like me and I've never met a better bunch of folk than here.
Thanks

Cake Rookie...are you still there? I hope this doesn't have anything to do with the contest!! You are very knowledgable in some stuff that others have no clue about. If you want to do cakes.....than you can.....it's not hard, per se.....it just needs practice just like anything else in life. Don't let other's work intimidate you because we ALL started somewhere.

If you're really not interested in cakes then I bid you farewell and good luck in all your endeavors. Drop in once in a while and say hello....

Oh dear, this doesn't sound good. Don't know what is wrong here, but seems to me I remember some controversy in the past about recipes and such and people disagreeing with methods and such.
I think most of us are not professional here, or at least don't consider ourselves professionals. I think we usually identify if we are or not or if we have considerable knowledge from being self-taught, or experience etc. So if this is about someone starting out in a new venture and trying to help and others feeling that because they aren't experts, they shouldn't share, well I am afraid I wouldn't agree with that.
True, some are students of the culinary arts or graduates and have commercial experience. There are some Wilton instructors, some professional commercial bakers, some people that just have been doing things for a long time and have a lot of knowledge.
There is room for all here.
I appreciate it when someone who is new at something shares information in an effort to help. I think most people here are very clear when they are passing on information when it doesn't necessarily denote expertise. Having not been on too much lately, but from what I recall, Cake Rookie, you were always very upfront about not being an expert and the fact that you were just sharing what you know. So I cannot see that as being a problem.
In what I know, I am self-taught too, no expert too. Hope that doesn't mean I am supposed to keep my mouth shut, er fingers still too, does it, haha!
This is not a professional culinary expert site here. Just a bunch of folks that are sharing a passion.
Come on folks, don't know what is wrong here, but everything can be resolved without people leaving.
Hugs to all!

Wait, I think some of us are missing something about a controversy earlier. I haven't witnessed or read anything that would even sound like something was in the air.
Everyone here is sooo sweet and giving with recipes. I'm sure not everyone's recipes appeal to everyone else's and that should be understood with such a big group of folk.
Just my 2cents...

It doesnt matter how when or where you decorate.....as long as you enjoy it ......If someone said something .....Sorry you felt you had to leave ....I think we all feel like family and as brothers and sisters sometimes do we get carried away. Mayybe that person doesnt know ....Even if its not about a person we are here to learn and share .....And If you Like to be here thats all that counts....

I'm thinking I must have missed something. I hate to see anyone leave the forum because of something that was said. Coming onto the forum is my relaxation and enjoyment, as I'm sure it is for many of you. For me baking and decorating is a hobby. I'm in the process of taking Wilton Class 2 and have no professional experience, but I have over 30 years experience baking for my family. I enjoy sharing what knowledge I have, and have learned so much from ALL of the forum members. SugarCreations, your opinions, ideas and thoughts are appreciated.

But with my schedule I only get to practice a couple hours once a week and I take the sugar work over cake decorating. Maybe I should remove myself from CC. I mean it is all about cakes not sugar work.

I think she enjoyed the sugar work more than the cake decorating...

So sorry that you feel the need to leave CC....even sorrier (is that a word?? hehe) if someone here did/said something to make you feel that way. If that's the case, just remember this: words are only words, but we all know that even given that, they can still be hurtful or offensive...but more likely than not, it has nothing to do with you. Even though someone's other than kindly words/language can be directed towards another, the problem usually lies elsewhere...like within their own selves/lives/personalities. If I come into contact (anywhere) with someone whose "personality" clashes with mine & those around me, I just try my best to remember that phrase...."Kill 'em with kindness"...you can't fight kindness...this site is proof of that. 99.999% of the people on this forum are full of nothing but kindness & caring & concern & advice & knowledge they're just bursting to share....all to help others further themselves in our common endeavor....CAKES & HOW TO MAKE THEM LOOK/TASTE GREAT!!!! And, IMHO, that would include pulled sugar decorations...which is something that fascinates me, actually.

It's a shame that something/someone here maybe made you feel excluded or that your input wasn't as valuable because you gravitate more toward the strictly sugar side of things at times....heck...I gravitate all over the place where cakes/sugar is concerned sometimes depending on the things I'm doing in other areas of my life at the time, or what season it is. If I had the power & knew what happened & how to fix it I would....sorry to see you go. Please come back sometime & let us know how you are & how your sugar explorations are going!! Remember what we all here at CC say.....PRACTICE, PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! icon_wink.gif

OMG!!!! See what happens when you start a post but don't finish it until 20 minutes later because your heard your 3 yr old getting into something and had to get up to see what it was - then discover your entire couch has been covered in baby powder & you have to vacuum it up before you all die of talc inhilation!!!!! icon_eek.gificon_rolleyes.gif When you come back to your computer, finish typing your post, submit it, then view it....you see that your post is almost entirely irrelevant!!!!! HAHAHAHA! icon_razz.gif

Needless to say: GLAD YOU'RE STILL HERE!!! icon_biggrin.gif But your post really did sound like you were taking off for good!!! lol

LOL, sounds hauntingly familiar, could of been worse though, at least it wasn't something from INSIDE the diapey. If ya know what I mean.lol

Sugarcreations, glad to hear everything is okay. Wasn't sure what happened but felt it because I couldn't believe someone would be hurt or hurt someone's feelings. That isn't like this family to be that way. I look forward to hearing and seeing all about your wonderful creations!
