I'm so annoyed right now! Our microwave broke 2 days ago ,and i want to make some MMF to decorate a cake. icon_cry.gif (It broke the day before i needed it for my chocolate plastic and chocolate cakes for the wedding cake..what a nightmare). Is there anyway to make MMF without a microwave? Will using the stove work?

You can melt the MM's in a double boiler.

I don't know why you couldn't just melt the marshmallows on a low temp on your stove .. the main thing is to melt the marshmallows .. try it and see how it works for you .. good luck and sorry to hear about your microwave going out .. let us know how it works out for you too icon_smile.gif

Hi,

It happened to me too icon_smile.gif What I did was I put the marshmallows in a bowl and put it over a pan of simmering water. And continue stirring with spoon until all the marshmallows are melted. Make sure the water is simmering Not boiling. Its like you are melting a chocolate. Hope this helps.

I melted mine in a non-stick saucepan just to see if it would work and now I prefer it to the microwave.

I put my water, flavor, and a dab of crisco in the saucepan and heated it on low just until the crisco was no longer visible. I added the marshmallows and gently stirred them until they were all melted. I poured the mixture into the powdered sugar in my KA and mixed until the consistency was right.

I often have to add a bit more moisture to my mix, so I keep a bit of warm water, flavor, & crisco on low on the stove, just in case.

Ya, I guess it sorta like making Crispy treats. I wonder if that Fluff stuff would work.
