Ok I know that everyone always say how much should I charge.....but here i go I searched and the post were mostly for wedding cupcakes so not sure if what I want to do is the same.

Im planning on making cupcakes for Halloween and calling my customers and asking if anybody wants to reserve there orders. I usually do this with a basic cake 8" ie. strawberry covered for valentines etc ...works great I get lots of extra revenue on this because most people like to have a little something on their tables for that day and it saves them the trouble..... and iF they were gonna buy it anyway might as well be from me. So how much do you charge for basic cupcakes maybe sprinkles....I found some bloodshot gumballs that I thought would be cute..... seems that based on other post $24.00 for 12 is excessive....but I could be wrong....thats why Im here what do you charge???

So far I have 5 DZ preordered and Im still unclear on the price but these are my regulars that I can count on. ( you know mom, sister, etc...lol.)

I think it was antonia or blittle who charges $15 for a dozen. That's reasonable I think..

I think that's very reasonable....I'm sure it also depends on where you live. I'm in NYC and there is a new little neighborhood shop that specializes in cupcakes. In my opinion, they taste bad. I brought my kids in for a treat cause they made it soooo cute and whimsical. My 6 yr old and my 3 yr old ate only the frosting! They took one taste of the cake and left it all. So I tried it. It was very flour-y and dry. Yech!

My point is...they charge $1.50 per cupcake!

Was that the CUPCAKE CAFE? lol I love their cake, it's a walnut something or other and they charge way more..a mini cupcake is like 2.50...I haven't been there since they FIRST opened but I see them on the GOTTI show all the time.

They are always sending VICTORI GOTTI cakes! and she's always complaining on the show when she eats all the cupcakes..lol

*Diva says you can take the Diva out of NYC but you cannot take NYC out of the DIVA....

Now where are my *(&^%%_()WQ& cupcakes?--lol

..I agree with the $1.50 per cupcake! Consider the time involved in decorating each one!

Yeah I was hoping that I wasnt too high and too low I usually do cakes ....But thing that I did specify was that the design was my choice so I can do as little or much as I want.....I figured that at this point its a basic design just icing with some sprinkles.....nothing to overwhelm myself with just like my other holiday cakes....a generic - basic design. If I find that I dont have much orders then and Im bored then I will probably practice differnt techniques but thats it....I dont see that happening.
As Im starting to get busier and have more customers now than I did 8 months ago ----When on valentines day When 1 had 10 cakes due the same day.

Wal-mart prices are not realistic for The home/specialty baker. They mass produce the cupcakes and the decoration... Well you know what I mean LOL.. Slap a swirl on the top and stick the plastic thingie in the top... Done in under 3 seconds LOL... Meanwhile it may take use a full minute to customize one cupcake.

Same with sheet cakes at the grocery store fully decorated in 3 minutes or less. $1.50 seems to be a decent price for A customized cupcake. Depends on the area you are in. Some places you can get even More.
