For years now I have only used Merckens chocolate coating but since I have moved to NC I have not found a local supplier. I don't want to ship it. So I have found a product called Make N Mold at A C Moore. It is a chocolate coating also. Has anyone used this? I tasted a wafer & it does not seem waxy. Appreciate any input. Thanks, Helen

I always nuke mine in the microwave in a giant pyrex dish so i don't know what it is like if you do it in a double boiler

Candy Lady Helen..

if you like it and it's comparable to what you were using...

why not use it?

Yeah, I am gonna use it. I am just parinoid because I have such a good following with my customers for Merckens. But when I add the price of shipping Merckens onto the prices, it brings the cost up.

Candy lady Helen..

I would explain to the customers then, what the dilema is..

What I'd really do is...melt some of each and spread it thinly onto parchment paper, break it apart and let them taste both...

Give them the price of the merkins product with the increase

and the price of the other product.

I'm sure that after the taste test and the price quote only those really devoted to the Merkens will agree to pay top dollar...

and it will have been THEIR choice, and therefore....Happy customers..lol

I hope that helps..

PS: that would fall under customer service and I would greatly admire my provider for doing that for me, and if there was reallly a difference I'd pay the money!

What a great idea, Pastry diva!

As a consumer, I would also be happy with having a chioce, even if I decided to pay more for one option.

Me too, as a consumer, I'm pretty loyal to the provider that provides me with customer service.

I just put myself in the shoes of Candy Lady's customers...and asked myself, what would I want her to do for me..lol

Thanks! I am going to try the taste samples myself first. I am my own worst critic....if it passes my taste buds, then it will be ok. Somethimes I think we are too critical of ourselves. My customers probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference!

I think P-Diva has hit the nail right on the head....as usual. Let them decide and you will never have this dilemma....Good Luck!
